The Sheridan College art department will host visiting artist Steve Johnson Wednesday through Friday. Johnson is an assist professor of drawing at College of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. On Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in room 153 of the Whitney Building he will provide a presentation of his work and his creative process. This event is free and open to the public. On Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. he will spend the day working on unfinished drawings in the art wing hallway. Interested students and members of the public are encouraged to observe the evolution of his work throughout the day. On Friday from 12:30-4:30 p.m. he will conduct an experimental drawing workshop. More examples of his work will be exhibited in the fine arts wing gallery starting tomorrow and remaining through March 15. Throughout the month of March the SAGE Exhibit Gallery will feature life-long Sheridan area resident and colored pencil artist Dean States. “Seven Years Plus” will exhibit his drawings at the gallery located inside Sherian College Main Street. An artist’s reception and gallery talk will be held Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. The public is welcome to this free event and refreshments will be served. The gallery is located at 171 N. Main St. More of States’ work can be viewed at the Dean States Studio located at 637 W. Loucks St.
