Sludge Trudge @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN— The Sheridan County Fairgrounds will be the host for “Sludge Trudge”, a 5k muddy obstacle run on Saturday. Competitive waves start at 9 a.m. with non-competitive waves from 10a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The kids race is at 1:30 p.m. with a harvest festival dinner at 7 p.m. If you plan to stay all day, bring lawn chairs, clean clothes, shoes and a towel. Outdoor showers will be provided. There will be food vendors, live music, a beer garden, and muddy exhibits. You can register at www.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=1862.

Five-year-old birthday party at the hospital @ Sheridan Memorial Hospital

SHERIDAN— All five-year-olds in the community are invited to the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Annual 5-Year-Old Birthday Party on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the hospital. The birthday party will be held on the back cafeteria patio area at the hospital from 10-11 a.m. All children born in 2009 are invited to attend with their parents. Other siblings are also welcome to join in the fun. Parents may park in employee parking in back of the hospital building. All five-year olds will be given prizes and a special grand prize will be awarded at 10:45 a.m. The Shriner clowns will be on hand with their fire engine to give rides. There will also be face painting and balloons. Children can enjoy popcorn, cookies and other treats. Invitations to the party are being distributed around town and sent home with area Kindergartners. The Hospital Auxiliary has sponsored this event since 1959. The party was first held that year to celebrate the 5th birthday of all babies born during the new hospital building’s first year: 1954. Wyoming Department of Education Public Comment Hearing @ Griffith Memorial Building, Sheridan College, Room 164

SHERIDAN— The Wyoming Department of Education will hold a public comment hearing in Sheridan Tuesday, Sept. 9. As required by statue, the WDE is seeking public comment on proposed changes and additions to the content standards in areas such as English, language arts and mathematics. There have also been additions for new standards in the content areas of social studies, physical education, and career and vocational education. The public hearing will be in room 164, Griffith Memorial Building at the Sheridan College, 3059 Coffeen Ave. from 6-8 p.m.

“Science Saturday” kick-off @ Sheridan College

SHERIDAN—The annual “Science Saturday” is kicking off  Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m. the public is invited to go to the Sheridan College Dinosaur Quarry. Attendees will meet at the Museum of Discovery at the Sheridan College, 3059 Coffeen Ave. Transportation will not be provided, however, there will be an organizing of carpools that morning. Koltiska Pumpkin Patch opens Wednesday

SHERIDAN— The Koltiska pumpkin patch will be open for the season on Wednesday. This year is their tenth anniversary, and each purchaser will get a raffle ticket and they will draw for ten prizes. Cost is $6 to pick a pumpkin, and cost includes a wagon ride and refreshments. No dogs, please. Their hours will be Wednesday through Friday, 3-6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, noon until 6 p.m. and they will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The last day they’ll be open will be Oct. 12. Birding at the Brinton scheduled for Saturday @ Brinton Museum

SHERIDAN — Join instructor Dr. Jackie Canterbury for “Birding at the Brinton” on Saturday from 8-10 a.m.

All ages and abilities are welcome, especially beginners.

Girl Scouts seeking members and volunteers @ Subway in Walmart

SHERIDAN—The Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming is seeking members and volunteers. They will be at the Walmart Subway on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. If you sign up for the Girls Scouts, you will receive a free six inch sub sandwich, and bring a sock for a fun craft. Final Sheridan Farmer’s Market @ Grinnell Street Plaza

SHERIDAN — The next and final Sheridan Farmers Market will be held Thursday on Grinnell Plaza. From 5-7 p.m. vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted. This week’s activities include an acoustic set by Bill Heide. Attendance is free for customers and vendor booths are available to rent.
