BIG HORN— The first annual Big Horn Market will be Saturday, Aug. 30th from 9a.m.-2 p.m. Collette Eliason has been working with the Smokehouse and the Big Horn Mercantile to participate through great food and music. Although the event is small, there is a nice variety of participants from local artists paintings, pottery, baked goods (gluten free), home goods, locally made bath and body items, face-painting, wagon rides, locally grown vegetables and kids’ activities. SHERIDAN— The Sheridan County Fairgrounds will be the host for “Sludge Trudge”, a 5k muddy obstacle run on Saturday. Competitive waves start at 9 a.m. with non-competitive waves from 10a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The kids race is at 1:30 p.m. with a harvest festival dinner at 7 p.m. If you plan to stay all day, bring lawn chairs, clean clothes, shoes and a towel. SHERIDAN— All five-year-olds in the community are invited to the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Annual 5-Year-Old Birthday Party on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the hospital. The birthday party will be held on the back cafeteria patio area at the hospital from 10-11 a.m. All children born in 2009 are invited to attend with their parents. Other siblings are also welcome to join in the fun. Parents may park in employee parking in back of the hospital building. All five-year olds will be given prizes and a special grand prize will be awarded at 10:45 a.m. The Shriner clowns will be on hand with their fire engine to give rides. There will also be face painting and balloons. Children can enjoy popcorn, cookies and other treats. Invitations to the party are being distributed around town and sent home with area Kindergartners. The Hospital Auxiliary has sponsored this event since 1959. The party was first held that year to celebrate the 5th birthday of all babies born during the new hospital building’s first year: 1954. SHERIDAN—The annual “Science Saturday” is kicking off Saturday. Starting at 9 a.m. the public is invited to go to the Sheridan College Dinosaur Quarry. Attendees will meet at the Museum of Discovery at the Sheridan College, 3059 Coffeen Ave. Transportation will not be provided, however, there will be an organizing of carpools that morning. SHERIDAN— The Koltiska pumpkin patch will be open for the season on Wednesday. This year is their tenth anniversary, and each purchaser will get a raffle ticket and they will draw for ten prizes. Cost is $6 to pick a pumpkin, and cost includes a wagon ride and refreshments. No dogs, please. Their hours will be Wednesday through Friday, 3-6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, noon until 6 p.m. and they will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays. The last day they’ll be open will be Oct. 12. SHERIDAN—The Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming is seeking members and volunteers. They will be at the Walmart Subway on Saturday from 3-5 p.m. If you sign up for the Girls Scouts, you will receive a free six inch sub sandwich, and bring a sock for a fun craft.
