Jogging and Fitness are in focus for Parkfit @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN — EMIT Technologies, the Recreation District and the Wellness Council have partnered to present ParkFit 2014. Every Wednesday throughout the summer from 12:10-12:50 p.m. a free fitness class will be offered at one of the local parks. The next session will be jogging and fitness by Steve Gage at Kendrick Park. A full schedule of ParkFit events can be seen at www.wellnesscouncilsc.org. Final Flavor of the Week Thursday @ Kula Space

SHERIDAN — In celebration of its fourth anniversary, the Kula Space will host “Flavor of the Week,” a weekly free class on Thursdays this summer at 5:30 p.m.

Some of the free classes will request optional donations to support a local cause and suggestions of local causes to support are welcome.

This week’s class will be the final one of the summer and will feature yoga with Tracey.

Santosha Yoga offering free week of classes @ Santosha Yoga

SHERIDAN— Santosha Yoga will be offering a free week of yoga and meditation Sept. 2-8.

Participants will get the chance to choose one free class during the week, receive discount prices for fall sessions, enter daily drawing for chamber bucks, and donate and vote for a local non-profit of your choice.

Sludge Trudge @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN— The Sheridan County Fairgrounds will be the host for “Sludge Trudge”, a 5k muddy obstacle run on Saturday. Competitive waves start at 9 a.m. with non-competitive waves from 10a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The kids race is at 1:30 p.m. with a harvest festival dinner at 7 p.m. If you plan to stay all day, bring lawn chairs, clean clothes, shoes and a towel. Outdoor showers will be provided. There will be food vendors, live music, a beer garden, and muddy exhibits. You can register at www.itsyourrace.com/event.aspx?id=1862.

Balance and Movement class @ Sheridan Senior Center

SHERIDAN — The next balance and movement with gentle yoga class with Cindy Baker has been scheduled for Wednesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. This class is designed to increase strength, balance, flexibility and to help people be more conscious of how they breathe. Red Grade Grind

RED GRADE— The 37th Annual Red Grade Grind will be held on Oct. 4. Runners, walkers, and cyclists are welcome to join the three mile journey starting at the end of the pavement on Highway 335 and going to the top of Red Grade. It is about a 2,000 foot elevation gain. The event starts at 9 a.m. and will be held regardless of weather. There is no registration fee and interested participants can contact Curt Schwamb at 672-5416.

Bike-tober Fest @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN— Bike-tober Fest is on Saturday, Oct. 11 and features mountain bike races and trail runs. Race registration includes chip timing, t-shirt, food and beer tickets, and admission to the after party with live music, kids’ races, and a raffle. Healthy Back Class @ Sheridan YMCA

SHERIDAN— The Sheridan YMCA is offering a free “Healthy Back Class” designed by medical professionals to help individuals strengthen their backs. It is a three week class, and the class is limited to 15 participants. You must sign up to be in the class by calling the YMCA at 674-7488. The program starts on Monday and runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:15-1:15 p.m. through Nov. 5.

Sheridan Ice’s sixth annual Ice Show @ Sheridan Ice Rink

SHERIDAN — Sheridan Ice’s sixth annual Ice Show will be held Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. at the Sheridan Ice Rink.

The event is free and open to the public.

The event will feature the Sheridan Ice figure skaters performing their competition program.

The figure skaters include Gennah Deutscher, Catherine Winnop, Elizabeth Winnop, Maggie Pierce, Jessica Ross, Kairstyn Holden, Katelyn Kayser, Molly Butler, Taylor Meixner, Victoria Smith and Marra Donahue. The figure skaters are coached by Becky Rosty and Emily Emond.

The Sheridan Ice Rink is located at 475 E. Brundage St.

Sheridan-WYO-Rodeo tickets go on sale @ WYO Theater Box Office

SHERIDAN — Tickets for the 2015 Sheridan-WYO-Rodeo will go on sale at 7 a.m. Friday through the WYO Theater box office.

Performance dates for this year’s rodeo, a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rodeo, will be July 8-11.

Internet ticket sales, in addition to purchases made by phone will begin at 12:01 p.m. Friday.

Purchases may be made at sheridanwyorodeo.com or at 672-9084.

Ticket prices will be as follows:

Reserved seating for Wednesday and Thursday will be $16.50 in advance and $18.50 at the gate.

Reserved seating for Friday and Saturday nights will be $18.50 in advance or $20.50 at the gate.

Tickets for children 12 and younger will be $7 for the Wednesday performance.

In addition, if you purchase tickets for all four nights, the cost will be $16.50 per ticket per night.

This year’s Sheridan-WYO-Rodeo will include the World Championship Indian Relay Races and wild pony races.

This is also the sixth year that the rodeo is sanctioned as a Million Dollar Silver Tour Rodeo.

Run ‘Til You’re Green Fun Run @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Jaycees will host a fun run Saturday in Kendrick Park beginning at 11 a.m.

The “Run ‘Til You’re Green” event will include 1-mile, 5K and 10K runs.

The entry fee to participate is $25 if you register before Saturday. The cost will be $30 on race day. The fee includes a T-shirt, goodie bag and lunch from Qdoba.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sheridan Jaycees for various community development projects.

Prizes will be awarded for best/greenest outfit as well as top times in each race and age group.

Lacrosse games @ Scott Field at Sheridan High School

SHERIDAN — Lacrosse is coming back to Sheridan this weekend.

After giving Sheridan a taste of the sport a year ago, four regional lacrosse teams are coming back to play at Scott Field. Starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, teams from West Billings, Black Hill-Rapid City Lacrosse and Laramie’s club lacrosse will play the sport that combines hockey, soccer and a little football on the soccer field at the high school.

“You can expect high energy, some contact and great athletes on the field,” Corridor Marketing Group’s Melanie Schwarz says of Saturday’s events.

12th annual Beaver Creek Slide @ Dahlin residence

SHERIDAN — The 12th annual Beaver Creek Slide and third annual Beaver Creek Bike Slog will take place May 2, with part of the proceeds to benefit the Sheridan Community Homeless Shelter operated by Volunteers of America.

The homeless shelter will receive $12.50 of each individual’s entry fee.

Races include a half marathon and 3.5-mile walk/run. The half marathon is a loop course covering primarily dirt and gravel roads along the scenic Bighorn Mountain foothills. The 3.5-mile course loops through the Wild Turkey and Beaver Creek subdivisions.

The courses are well marked and have aid stations.

Last year’s races had competitors from across Wyoming and Montana.

Walkers for the half marathon will start at 8 a.m. May 2, and runners will start at 9 a.m.

The 3.5-milers start at 10 a.m.

Bike racers take the same course as the half marathon and do two loops starting at 8 a.m. Bikers need to yield to runners and stay on the right side of the road while runners stay to the left.

The entry fee is $30, payable to Wyoming Innovation. Entry forms can be picked up at the Sports Stop in Sheridan or via email by contacting bdahlin@wyoming.com.

Each entrant receives a long sleeved T- Shirt. Lunch is provided, and door prizes will be drawn after the race. Awards go to the top three finishers in each race for men and women.

Races will start at the Dahlin residence at 12 S. Sharptailed Road.
