Sheridan County logo design

From staff reports SHERIDAN— Sheridan County is launching a county-wide contest to design a new logo that represents the county in a unique and identifying way. Submissions will be accepted through Thursday, Aug. 7. The County Commission will select up to 10 semi-finalists to be presented to the public for voting. Finalists will each receive $50 in Chamber Bucks, and the contest winner will receive $250 in Chamber Bucks.

Kids’ art camp @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN­— The Sagebrush Community Art Center is hosting a kids summer art camp for ages 8-12 from July 21-24 from 1-5 p.m. each day. There will be an acrylic painting class, jewelry making, ceramic painting, watercolor painting, and a picture frame making class. Registration is due by July 16, and each class costs $35. Farmer’s Market with Mick Johnson Acoustic @ Grinnell Plaza

SHERIDAN — The annual Sheridan Farmers Market will commence Thursday at Grinnell Plaza. From 5-7 p.m. weekly on Thursdays vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted. Attendance is free for customers and vendor booths are available to rent. This week features Mick Johnson Acoustic and youth activities. “Baby with the Bathwater” @ Carriage House Theatre

SHERIDAN — A new local theater group, the Off-Kilter Fellowship, will present six editions of “Baby With the Bathwater,” July 31- August 2 and August 7-9 nightly at 7:30 p.m. The dark comedy about how difficult it is to be a parent and how scary it is to be a baby is directed by Jacob Claytor and features Carol Nowakowski, Jenn Smith, Donna Gifford, Savannah Hennigh and Garrett Key. The show is for mature audiences only due to strong language and sexual content. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, seniors and military and will be sold at the door. Jentel Presents @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN— Jentel Artist Residency Program is pleased to present this month’s residents. “Jentel Presents” will take place Tuesday, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center. This month’s presenters include an encaustic artist, a performance artist, a narrative fiction writer, a painter, a photographer and a fiction writer. The art center is located on the corner of Fifth and Broadway, and this event is free and open to the public.

Live readers’ theater presentation of ‘Wireless’ @ Carriage House Theatre

SHERIDAN— The Trail End Guilds present ‘Wireless’, a live readers’ theater from the golden age of radio.

There will be five skits, including ‘The Bickersons’ and ‘Jack Armstrong, All American Boy’.

All proceeds benefit the Kendrick Mansion and the Trail End Guilds.

Performances are August 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and August 17 at 2 p.m.

Prices are $15 adults and $12 for kids 17 and under.

The performance will be at the Carriage House Theater, 419 Delphi Ave. For more information call 674-4589.

Shakespeare at Mars Theatre @ Mars Theater

SHERIDAN—The Sheridan College Theater Department is proud to present a theatrical double feature of William Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” and Gerry Hansen’s Commedia dell’Arte play “Ros & Guild”. At the new Mars Theater August 15-24. Shows are at 7 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. The second feature of the evening is Gerry Hansen’s new farce “Ros and Guild,” which places Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” in the topsy-turvy world of Commedia. Both plays are directed by Hansen, whose nimble staging sets the iconic “Hamlet” up so that it can be punched squarely in the funny bone by “Ros and Guild.” Tickets are available at the WYO Theater box office at 672-9084 or www.wyotheater.com. General Admission is $10. High school and college student admission is free with valid student ID. This event is rated PG. Big Horn Market @ BIg Horn Mercantile

BIG HORN— The first annual Big Horn Market will be Saturday, Aug. 30th from 9a.m.-2 p.m. Collette Eliason has been working with the Smokehouse and the Big Horn Mercantile to participate through great food and music. Although the event is small, there is a nice variety of participants from local artists paintings, pottery, baked goods (gluten free), home goods, locally made bath and body items, face-painting, wagon rides, locally grown vegetables and kids’ activities. Big Horn Heritage Days will also bring live music to the Big Horn Smokehouse Friday and Saturday night. For more information call Collette Eliason at 752-3764.
