SHERIDAN— Registration is now open for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) class to be held on Thursday and Friday, July 17 and 18, from 8:15 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Wyoming Simulation Center, 245 Broadway St. The two-day ASIST class is designed to supplement a caregiver’s abilities to assist an at risk person. SHERIDAN¬— The Sheridan College will hold their next Youth Garden activity Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon. Children and their families are invited to check on the garden and learn how to care for the plants that are growing. SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Farmers Market will be moved farther up Grinnell Street this Thursday, in front of The Sheridan Press, to celebrate the Third Thursday Street Festival. From 5-7 p.m. vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted. Attendance is free for customers and vendor booths are available to rent. SHERIDAN— This Saturday, Landon’s Greenhouse invites the public to attend a free self-guided garden tour from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Landon’s Greenhouse has chosen eight finalists from the 2014 entries and they are looking for votes for the ‘People’s Choice’ winners in each category.

TIPS Training @ Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Police Department, the Prevention Management Organization of Wyoming and the Wyoming Department of Health will present a free TIPS Training on July 22. From 8-10:30 a.m. and 5-7:30 p.m. beverage service training for concessions will be offered at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce. “Training for Intervention Procedures” is an internationally recognized alcohol awareness education program that includes subjects such as retail programs, college students and adult consumers. ‘Tidbit Tuesday’ set for next week @ Sheridan County Museum

The program gives children and their families an opportunity to explore history together from 10 a.m. to noon every other Tuesday throughout the summer. The events are free and open to all but space is limited to 24 children so pre-registration is requested. Subsequent activities will be on Aug. 5 and Aug. 19. Learn about forest service policies at ‘Wyoming Wednesday’ @ Wyoming Welcome Center

SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Office of Tourism will host the next event in a series of events called “Wyoming Wednesdays.” Informative and interpretive programs about Sheridan are being offered at 10 a.m. most Wednesdays throughout July at the Wyoming Welcome Center. At this week’s event, Cheri Jones of the United States Forest Service will talk about forest service policies and will focus on the Big Horn National Forest. The events are free and open to everyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic lunches and stay and enjoy the visitor’s center before or after each program. The center is located off of Interstate 90 on the Fifth Street exit. Women’s Retreat @ First Presbyterian Church

3-D Archery Shoot

SHERIDAN— The Sheridan County Sportsmans Association will hold a 3-D archery shoot Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m.  The family friendly event will be at Bear Lodge and costs $10 per shooter. If you want to shoot for competition, the cost is $20. There will be food and drinks available. The lodge is located at 5600 U.S. 14 in Dayton. Grizzly bear ecology tour

SHERIDAN — For the next event in a series of outings celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act of 1984, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will host a Grizzly Bear ecology tour in the Shoshone National Forest. On Saturday, Chuck Neal, a retired U.S. Department of the Interior ecologist, will lead the group into grizzly bear country and teach the ecology and biology of the bears. Bring a picnic lunch and spend time discussing the anniversary of wilderness areas. The walk will be approximately 5 miles roundtrip, and is a steep uphill climb. This month’s presenters include an encaustic artist, a performance artist, a narrative fiction writer, a painter, a photographer and a fiction writer. The art center is located on the corner of Fifth and Broadway, and this event is free and open to the public.

Nothing but nets @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN— Help the Sheridan Jaycees raise funds to prevent malaria in Africa. On Thursday, August 7, there will be family fun at Kendrick Park starting at 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment from the Boot Hill band, dance lessons, silent auction, food vendors, and adult beverages. This is a fundraiser for Nothing but Nets, an international organization that supplies bed nets to African families. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. NSI Fall Festival @ NSI Academy

SHERIDAN— The NSI Academy presents their fall fest Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9. On Friday there will be a Pig Spit BBQ and live music by The Craft Brothers starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday at 9 a.m., there will be a 5k Color Run that you can register online for. There will also be a lunch and a duck race. Both days will feature musical performances by the student body and inflatables for the whole family. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome to establish a performing arts program at NSI Academy. The NSI Academy is located at 5 Lane Ln. For more information call 674-6878.
