“March Gladness” Spring Salad Luncheon @ First United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Women will host the annual Spring Salad Luncheon on Thursday. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church “March Gladness” will serve an all-you-can eat lunch for $7 a person. The proceeds will benefit the UMW mission projects. Empty Bowl Event @ Sheridan County YMCA

The Volunteers of America Northern Rockies will host their annual Empty Bowl Event Thursday. The fundraising event serves attendees a simple dinner emulating what one might eat at a soup kitchen served in a handcrafted bowl and accompanied by music from Canary Joe, a silent auction, face painting for kids and more. Attendees keep their dinner bowls as reminders about homelessness. The event will run from 5-8 p.m. at the Sheridan County YMCA. Tickets are available at the door for $25 per family, $10 for adults, $5 for kids and children under five are free. All proceeds benefit the Sheridan Community Homeless Shelter. Stroke Awareness fundraiser @ Tongue River Middle School cafeteria

A Stroke Awareness fundraiser on behalf of Troy Winder of the Sunset Cafe will be held at Tongue River Middle School on Friday. From 4:30-8:30 p.m. in the cafeteria a soup and chili dinner will be served, a silent auction will be held and basket raffles will be offered. The Sheridan County 4-H club will host their annual carnival fundraiser on March 15. From 3-7 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall a chili supper, cake walk, dunk tank, duck darts, treasure hunt, and more food and activities will be offered. Spring-FUN-Raiser @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall

The Dog and Cat Shelter will host a “Spring-FUN-Raiser” event March 29th. From 5-8 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, food and fun for the entire family will be offered. A taco bar catered by Qdoba will be served as well as homemade cookies, coffee, soda and a cash bar. A silent auction, live auction and bucket raffle will be offered. Children’s games will be played with a kid’s only bucket raffle for prizes. Other activities will include live music, a “Dog House” to which you can consign friends, chair massages, face painting and more. Live auction items include a NASCAR Package, a fly fishing trip for two, a Minnesota Vikings package, a one week stay in two bedroom 2 bathroom condo downtown Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, a stocked wine fridge and more. Bottoms Up Bash! @ Historic Sheridan Inn

A colon cancer awareness event will be held March 29 at the Historic Sheridan Inn. “Bottoms Up Bash!” will commence at 7 p.m. and will feature country rock band Narrow Gauge from 8 p.m. to midnight. On Thursday, August 7, there will be family fun at Kendrick Park starting at 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment from the Boot Hill band, dance lessons, silent auction, food vendors, and adult beverages. This is a fundraiser for Nothing but Nets, an international organization that supplies bed nets to African families. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. SHERIDAN— The NSI Academy presents their fall fest Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9. On Friday there will be a Pig Spit BBQ and live music by The Craft Brothers starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday at 9 a.m., there will be a 5k Color Run that you can register online for. There will also be a lunch and a duck race. Both days will feature musical performances by the student body and inflatables for the whole family. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome to establish a performing arts program at NSI Academy. The NSI Academy is located at 5 Lane Ln. The Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter has been selected to receive renovation, and needs volunteers to help finish the project.

The renovations will begin Aug. 23 and 24 at 9 a.m.

The events benefit medical advancements for Sheridan Hospital, or M.A.S.H. On Friday at 6 p.m. at the fairgrounds, there will be live music by Sidetrack, a buffet dinner from Big Horn Mountain Caterers, plus auctions. Out of the Darkness Walk @ Grinnell Street Plaza

SHERIDAN— More than 200 people from throughout Sheridan and Buffalo are expected to participate in the upcoming Out of the Darkness Community Walk on Saturday, Sept. 6. The fundraising walk supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and AFSP Wyoming by helping to support local and national suicide prevention and awareness programs to reduce the annual rate of suicide by 20 percent by 2025. The Sheridan County Out of the Darkness Walk is one of more than 360 Out of the Darkness Community Walks being held this fall nationwide. The walks are expected to unite more than 100,000 walkers nationally and raise more than $12 million for suicide prevention efforts. The Sheridan County community walk will begin at Grinnell Plaza from 9-10 a.m. for registration and end at approximately noon. The Sheridan walk will have speaker, Shaun Damico, who will also be performing. There will be art projects including chalk art and memory rocks, a memory board for those who would like to share pictures of their loved ones, breakfast and coffee for volunteers prior to the walk and lunch for participants following the walk. For those interested in participating, or already registered, who may not be able to physically endure the walk route, there will be the opportunity to travel the last leg of the walk back into the square as the group returns. Paws Pasture Classic golf tournament @ Megan's Hay Field

SHERIDAN— The First Annual Paws Pasture Classic golf tournament will be Saturday, Sept. 13. All proceeds benefit the Dog and Cat Shelter and costs $12 for adults and $6 for kids. Registration is at 11 a.m. and tee off is at noon at Megan’s Hay Field. Head west on Fifth Street past the hospital, the road turns into Soldier Creek Road. Follow the signs, it will be approximately three miles after the pavement ends. Sloppy joes, hot dogs, chips and a drink are included. There will be teams of four, 50/50 raffle and hole games and prizes. Bring your own golf club, golf balls, chairs, and beer. They will have some clubs available to use. ‘Paws for a Cause’ walk/run @ Powder Horn Golf Community

SHERIDAN— The Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue is hosting ‘Paws for a Cause’ on Saturday. This is a fun run or walk to benefit animals in need out at the Powder Horn Golf Community. At 8:30 a.m. there will be a 5k and 10k run, or a 1k and 3k walk. It is $30 per person, and you can register at sheridancatrescue.org. Miles for Smiles 5k @ Whitney Academic Center

SHERIDAN—The Sheridan College Dental Hygiene Program will hold “Miles for Smiles,” a 5K run/walk on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 9 a.m.

Participants will start in front of the Whitney Academic Center at Sheridan College and use Sheridan Pathways. There is a one-mile option for walkers.

Runners will start first, followed by walkers and strollers.

“This is a great opportunity for community members to be active, get involved with Sheridan College and support a great cause,” said Tobin Korsch, Sheridan College Dental Hygiene faculty.

Registration is $35. Proceeds will provide electric toothbrushes for Eagle Ridge Rehabilitative Services, RENEW and Easter Seals communities. Remaining funds will go toward the Sheridan College Dental Hygiene Patient Scholarship, which provides funding for qualified applicants to receive restorative dental treatment.

SHERIDAN—Joey’s Fall Fly II is having a fundraiser Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19 and 20. On Friday, come meet the teams and listen to The Craft Brothers at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the gate. Starting at 6 p.m. there will be live music and hors d’oeuvres as well as live and silent auctions. After the teams have paired and drawn their fishing locations on Friday night, they will be on the water Saturday at 9 a.m. Teams consist of an angler and a student.
