Ducks Unlimited 30th annual membership banquet, dinner and auction @ Bozeman Trail steakhouse

The Buffalo Chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold their 30th annual membership banquet, dinner and auction on Feb. 8.

DU works to meet the needs of waterfowl in Wyoming by creating and enhancing wetlands and associated upland habitats.

The evening will include dinner, raffles and an auction.

Auction items available will be wildlife art, firearms, sculptures, antique wood decoy, gift certificates, dinner and lodging packages, a battlefield tour, fishing and hunting trips, golf packages and more.

Tickets are $35 per person if purchased by Feb. 1 and $45 per person or $80 per couple after Feb. 1.

The evening commences at 5:30 p.m. at the Bozeman Trail steakhouse and seating is limited. The steakhouse is located at 675 E. Hart St., Buffalo.

Sheridan College Rodeo Banquet @ Holiday Inn

The fourth annual Sheridan College Rodeo Banquet will be held Feb. 8.

The event is a fundraiser benefitting scholarships and operating costs for the men’s and women’s student-athlete rodeo teams.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Silent and live auctions will be held and live entertainment will be provided by Justin Beasley and After the Rodeo.

Tickets are $50 per person and must be purchased in advance.

Tickets are available at the SC information desk, the SC Foundation or through the rodeo teams.

Conversation in History @ Senior Center conference room

The Sheridan Senior Center will host Helen Laumann of the Sheridan County Historical Society for the next “Conversation in History” on Wednesday.

This series of casual conversations surrounding specific portions of our Sheridan area history is free and open to the public.

The meeting will run from 10-11:15 a.m. in the Senior Center conference room.

Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery free workshops @ Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery

Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery will host three free public workshops on Saturday.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Sheridan’s African  Violet Society will inform participants on African violet growing techniques, do’s and don’ts and society membership.

The second workshop will be presented by Landon’s manager Keith Kershaw at 1 p.m. Kershaw will present information on ordering trees and shrubs for the spring.

Finally, at 3 p.m. Janelle Gray will house “It’s a jungle in here: Caring for houseplants.” Gray will offer information on light, watering, fertilizing and controlling pest problems.

All workshops are free but space is limited so pre-registration is required.

Seventh annual Fireman’s Ball @ Historic Sheridan Inn

The seventh annual Fireman’s Ball will be held Feb. 15 at the Historic Sheridan Inn.

From 7-11 p.m. entertainment will be provided by the Teka Brock Band, appetizers will be served, a silent auction will be offered and a wine ladder and Harley will be raffled off.

A cash bar will be available.

For the Harley raffle, 250 raffle tickets will be sold prior to the ball for $100 each. Each purchase includes two free tickets to the event. The grand prize will be a “Firefighter Edition” Harley Davidson. Runner-up cash prizes will also be granted.

Professional photos of attendees in fire fighter outfits will be taken by FFF Photography and available for purchase.

Proceeds from the Harley raffle will benefit a scholarship for an area student. Proceeds from the event and photos will go toward the installation of a firefighters statue in front of the station.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at the station, Red Velvet Bakery, Sheridan Stationary and Twisted Hearts.

The Sheridan College Main Street campus Center for Workforce and Community Education will present the next topic in the series of “Brown Bag Lunch Seminars” on  Feb. 19.

Lynn Gordon of Family and Personal Counseling Center will present topics on Wednesdays through the end of February including depression, fear, family and codependency and how to take control of these issues.

The seminars are free and open to everyone with no reservations required

“Family and codependency: We are from where we came” will be the topic on Wednesday from 12:10-12:50 p.m.

SHERIDAN — Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library will host two events this week to provide assistance with the Health Insurance Marketplace.

On Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. in The Inner Circle “Enroll Wyoming” will be offered.

A new Health Insurance Marketplace is now open in Wyo., where consumers can find a variety of health plans which all cover prescriptions, hospital stays, doctor visits and more.

Those interested may qualify for financial help to afford these plans.

Trained navigators are available to help consumers understand the insurance plans available and assist in the enrollment process on healthcare.gov.

Wednesday night’s program will be a presentation and Thursday will offer drop-in assistance hours.

Sheridan County Historical Society program @ Downtown Sheridan Association Community Room

The Sheridan County Historical Society will host Veronica Hagemann on Wednesday. Hagemann will discuss the archival project at the Wyoming Girls School. Pheasants Forever Banquet and Auction @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall

SHERIDAN — The annual Pheasants Forever Banquet and Auction will be held Feb. 22.

The fundraising buffet banquet benefits the Sheridan/Johnson County chapter of Pheasants Forever and will be held at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall from 5:30-10 p.m.

Tickets are $60 each or $90 per couple and purchases include a membership in the organization.

Raffle tickets for a Can-Am 500 four-wheeler and a raffle for 10 special guns will be sold separately for $20 each.

Raffle tickets and banquet tickets are available now at Parker Glass, located at 125 W. Brundage St., and Sheridan Stationery located at 206 N. Main St.

Thankful Thursday benefitting Sheridan Foster Parents Exchange @ Warehouse 201

SHERIDAN — Warehouse 201 will host the next Thankful Thursday event on Thursday.

From 5:30-8 p.m. Sheridan Foster Parents Exchange will be honored with the fundraiser.

Admission is free, a silent and live auction will be held, live music will be played by Terry Garrison and all proceeds will benefit the organization.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $25 and will offer 10 percent off purchases made throughout the evening, a $250 cash give-away, door prizes and other surprises.

Best of the West BBQ Fest Fat Tuesday fundraiser @ Black Tooth Brewery

The Best of the West BBQ Fest committee will host a Fat Tuesday celebration to kick-off their fundraising season. On Tuesday at 6 p.m. complimentary appetizers and music by the Teka Brock Band will be provided at the Black Tooth Brewery. “Sundae cups” of coleslaw, baked beans and BBQ pork will be sold with all proceeds supporting the Best of the West BBQ Fest competition. All members of the community are welcome to attend. Members of the organization are invited to take part in the secret sister program and secret sister assignments will be made at this meeting.

This annual primary fundraiser for the Downtown Sheridan Association will serve heavy hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening and present over 100 wines, beers and spirits to taste. “March Gladness” Spring Salad Luncheon @ First United Methodist Church

The United Methodist Women will host the annual Spring Salad Luncheon on Thursday. The Volunteers of America Northern Rockies will host their annual Empty Bowl Event Thursday. The fundraising event serves attendees a simple dinner emulating what one might eat at a soup kitchen served in a handcrafted bowl and accompanied by music from Canary Joe, a silent auction, face painting for kids and more. Attendees keep their dinner bowls as reminders about homelessness. The event will run from 5-8 p.m. at the Sheridan County YMCA. As part of the Sheridan College Science Museum Lecture Series, John Trumble will present “Cleanup and Remediation of Creosote Impacted Soils from a Railroad Tie Chipping Facility” on Wednesday. Trumble, the president of Cordilleran Environmental Consultants, Inc., will discuss the findings of a BNSF Railway Company sponsored research study conducted near Bovey, Minn. to investigate the use of phytoremediation to clean up an industrially-impacted soil containing polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons. The Dog and Cat Shelter will host a “Spring-FUN-Raiser” event March 29th. From 5-8 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, food and fun for the entire family will be offered. A taco bar catered by Qdoba will be served as well as homemade cookies, coffee, soda and a cash bar. A silent auction, live auction and bucket raffle will be offered. Children’s games will be played with a kid’s only bucket raffle for prizes. Other activities will include live music, a “Dog House” to which you can consign friends, chair massages, face painting and more. SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Office of Tourism will host the next event in a series of events called “Wyoming Wednesdays.” Informative and interpretive programs about Sheridan are being offered at 10 a.m. most Wednesdays throughout July at the Wyoming Welcome Center. At this week’s event representatives from the Wyoming Fish Hatchery in Story will give us an overview of what happens at the hatchery. The events are free and open to everyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic lunches and stay and enjoy the Visitor’s Center before or after each program. The center is located off of Interstate 90 on the Fifth Street exit.
