Basics of Microsoft Word class for 50 and older @ Sheridan College Main Street

Sheridan College’s Center for Workforce and Community Education and the American Association of Community Colleges are presenting a series of classes for people age 50 and over.
Classes will be held the second Tuesday of each month starting in September and ending in June.
The class schedule is:
• Feb. 11 — basics of Microsoft Word
• March 11 — writing attention-grabbing resumes
• April 8 — successful interviews
• May 13 — critical thinking
• June 10 — providing “wow” customer service
All classes are free and will be held from 8-11 a.m. at Sheridan College Main Street, 171 N. Main St. Pre-registration is required.

Warriors Don’t Cry @ WYO Theater

The Bushnell Center will present “Warriors Don’t Cry” at the WYO Theater on Wednesday. Part of the Children’s Education and Family series at the theater, the play tells the story of the Little Rock Nine who risked their lives in 1957 to end segregation at Central High School. The play received the American Library Association award, 1995 Nonfiction Book of the Year award and the Robert F. Kennedy Book award. The performance will commence at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $14 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for children ages 12 and younger. Birding at the Brinton @ The Brinton Museum

The Brinton Museum, Science Kids and the Big Horn Audubon will present the next monthly “Birding at the Brinton” on Saturday.

This free morning of bird watching will run from 9-11 a.m at The Brinton Museum.

All ages and abilities are welcome to join.

Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars if they have them.

Fun at the Museum: Presidents Day Crafts and History @ community room at the Johnson County Library

SHERIDAN — The Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum will host “Fun at the Museum: Presidents Day Crafts and History” on Monday in the community room at the Johnson County Library.

This free event is open to everyone and will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

Stars of Tomorrow @ WYO Theater

SHERIDAN — The Kiwanis will host “Stars of Tomorrow” Feb. 21.

This youth talent show will present children in three categories: elementary, junior high and high school.

First-, second- and third-place winners in each category will receive a trophy and a certificate.

There will also be an overall winner who will receive a scholarship toward the college of their choice and is given the opportunity to compete at the district level.

The show will commence at 7 p.m. at the WYO Theater located at 42 N. Main St.

Tickets for the performance are $8 for adults, $5 for students under age 18 and free for children five years old and younger.

Behind the Scenes Saturday @ Sheridan County Museum

The Sheridan County Museum will present “Behind the Scenes Saturday” on Saturday. This free event is open to all with no reservations required. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a behind-the-scenes view at the museum’s operations. The public is invited to come and see what goes on at the museum when the galleries are closed. Attendees will see how employees take down old exhibits, care for the items entrusted to the museum and prepare new items and galleries for new exhibits. There will also be Tidbit activities for children and parents. The museum is located at 850 Sibley Circle, off of the Fifth Street exit of Interstate 90. For more information call 675-1150.

Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery workshops @ Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery

SHERIDAN — Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery will host two free public workshops on Saturday.

Beginning at 10 a.m. Wayne Gray will present “Stop and smell the roses” an informative and fast-paced session that will cover the different types of roses, rose planting and care and rose pests and diseases and how to control them.

The second workshop will be presented by Landon’s manager Keith Kershaw at 1 p.m. Kershaw will present “Backyard orchard: All about fruit trees,” an informative workshop discussing how to grow fruit trees in Wyoming.

All workshops are free but space is limited so pre-registration is requested.

Science Saturday H2O Olympics @ Edward A. Whitney Academic Center atrium of Sheridan College

The Sheridan College Museum of Discovery and Science Kids will host March’s Science Saturday this weekend.

Science Saturday offers free admission to the museum for the entire community. This month the focus is “H2O Olympics” from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Edward A. Whitney Academic Center atrium of Sheridan College.

Water may seem ordinary but it is a building block of life and the program will discuss why.

Sheridan College is located at 3059 Coffeen Ave.
