SHERIDAN — The weekly afternoon outdoor fitness sessions, Sheridan ParkFit, will continue Wednesday with ultimate frisbee at Whitney Commons.

Each Wednesday through Aug. 26 free community workouts will be offered at a variety of parks. All members of the community are invited to attend.

This year, points will be given for each activity you attend and you can play as an individual or team. Awards for the most points will be given out at the last session on Aug. 26, at which time the winning team will determine the final activity.

Each session begins at 12:10 p.m. For more information, contact the Sheridan Recreation District at 674-6421.

Pre-rodeo entertainment starts at 6:30 p.m., the World Championship Indian Relay Races at 7 p.m. and then the rodeo itself.

General admission tickets (still reserved seating) are $18.50 in advance or $19.50 at the gate for the Friday and Saturday performances. (Also note that Friday and Saturday performances are typically sold out before show time.)

Parking is available on the fairgrounds property and on the adjacent streets; free remote parking available at the Sheridan High School parking lot with complimentary trolley service to the fairgrounds.

Are you one of those who want to get out of town during Rodeo Week? How about a family-friendly campout in Ranchester’s Connor Park on Friday night?

Bring your picnic dinner and camping gear for Tongue Riverpalooza. Organizers will provide a free outdoor movie, “A River Runs Through It” at about 9 p.m.

Then on Saturday, the festivities will head to a private put-in on Goose Creek around 9 a.m. for a two- to three-hour float trip and river cleanup.

Shuttle service will be provided, but bring your own boat (canoe, kayak, inflatable rowboat, etc.).

Don’t want to camp out Friday night? No problem. When you RSVP, you will be provided directions to the put-in so you can meet there on Saturday.

Lunch and festivities will be offered following the float trip and prizes will be awarded for the most trash collected, the most unique items and more.

Sheridan Cowgirls Rodeo @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

The Sheridan Cowgirls Rodeo will come to the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Thursday night. From 6-9p.m., members of the community are invited to watch the local rodeo competition for boys and girls under age 15 and women of all ages. The events of the evening will include barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, dummy roping, breakaway roping, steer stopping, girls team roping and mixed roping. The event is free. Miss Teen send off @ Powder Horn Clubhouse

Local teenager Olivia Boley, Miss Wyoming Outstanding Teen, will be heading off for the national Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Florida, July 27 thru August 1 and a send-off and fundraising event will be held at the Powder Horn Clubhouse Tuesday. Come for cocktails at 5 p.m., followed by a dress rehearsal by Boley at 6 p.m. The show will include a live talent performance of her dance, interview questions from the crowd and an evening gown competition dress rehearsal. A live auction to support Boley’s platform of “Connecting Generations.” Proceeds from the live auction will go to the Sheridan Senior Center, Children’s Miracle Network and the Miss Wyoming board. Any net profit from ticket sales will be used to help pay for Boley’s trip expenses. Tickets are $50 for adults and $30 for children with each ticket including one drink and light appetizers. “On the Foundation” @ Future home at 1762 Lookout Point Drive

“On the Foundation” a fundraiser for the Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns will be held Thursday in the Poplar Grove Subdivision. From 7-10 p.m., an evening of comedy, theater, music, dessert, wine and beer, featuring the music of Micah Wyatt and Josh and Amber Hanson will be offered on the site of a future home at 1762 Lookout Point Drive. “Smackdown in Sheridan” roller derby bout @ Sheridan Junior High School

The Wild West Wreckers roller derby team will host “Smackdown in Sheridan” this Saturday at Sheridan Junior High School.

Not only will this be the Wreckers’ only home bout of the year, it will be a historic event as the first ever women’s roller derby home bout in Sheridan.

The Wild West Wreckers will battle the Rapid City Revolution Saturday at 6 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m. at SJHS.

Presale tickets are available for $8 at sheridanrollerderby.org. Tickets will be $10 at the door, and kids 5 and younger are free. Anyone who brings a canned-food donation will receive $1 off day-of admission. Ten percent of ticket sales will benefit the Antelope Butte Foundation.

Sod Farm Festival @ Green Carpet Sod Farm

The Sod Farm Festival will return to Sheridan on Aug. 22. The semi-annual outdoor music festival is a fundraiser for the nonprofit Project Schoolhouse.

Nonstop music will be performed from 3-8:30 p.m. by bands including Robert Cline Jr., Bonnie and Taylor Sims, the Bare Foot Band, Canary Joe, Chris Knodel, the Craft Brothers, Damian Trujillo, Doug Andrews, Ethan Chartier, the Fireants, the Nate Champion Band, the Quarterman Brothers, Sam Morton, Shot in the Foot, Tab Barker and Too Wet to Plow.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the gate.

Project Schoolhouse works to build schools and water systems in impoverished parts of Nicaragua.

The festival will take place at the Green Carpet Sod Farm located at 80 Owl Creek Road.

Shopping for a Cause is offered the fourth Friday of every month, benefitting a local nonprofit organization.

Sheridan Elks Youth Rodeo @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

The Sheridan Elks Youth Rodeo will return to the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Saturday. From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. all members of the community are invited to watch the events for free. There will be a toughest youth rodeo competition awarding up to $67,000 in cash and prizes in 26 events attracting up to 1,000 entries daily from across the region. Swing for Smiles @ Powder Horn Golf Club

The 2nd annual “Swing for Smiles” golf tournament, to benefit the Give Kids The World Village, an annual project of the Perkins Family Restaurant chain, will be held at the Powder Horn Golf Club on Saturday. Dinner and a calcutta will be hosted Friday night preceding the tournament. On Saturday, shotgun start is at 10 a.m. with rounds going for approximately 4.5 hours. The derby will begin at 3 p.m. and awards will follow at 6 p.m. The tournament is a two person best ball. The cost to participate is $125 for club members and $200 for non-members.
