Jentel Presents @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN— Jentel Artist Residency Program is pleased to present this month’s residents. “Jentel Presents” will take place Tuesday, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center. This month’s presenters include an encaustic artist, a performance artist, a narrative fiction writer, a painter, a photographer and a fiction writer. The art center is located on the corner of Fifth and Broadway, and this event is free and open to the public.

Thursday is National Farmer’s Market week at Sheridan Farmer’s Market @ Grinnell Street Plaza

SHERIDAN— The next Sheridan Farmers Market will be held Thursday on Grinnell Plaza. From 5-7 p.m. vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted. This week’s activities include a watermelon eating contest, homemade pie contest, rooster crowing contest, a market basket raffle and a beer and wine garden. Attendance is free for customers and vendor booths are available to rent. Nothing but nets @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN— Help the Sheridan Jaycees raise funds to prevent malaria in Africa. On Thursday, August 7, there will be family fun at Kendrick Park starting at 6 p.m. There will be live entertainment from the Boot Hill band, dance lessons, silent auction, food vendors, and adult beverages. This is a fundraiser for Nothing but Nets, an international organization that supplies bed nets to African families. The event is free, but donations are appreciated. ASIST classes return to Sheridan @ Wyoming Mental Health

SHERIDAN— Registration is now open for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) class to be held on Thursday and Friday, August 21 and 22, from 8:15 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Northern Wyoming Mental Health offices, 1701 W. Fifth St.

The two-day ASIST class is designed to supplement a caregiver’s abilities to assist an at risk person. This class is free, however, space is limited so please contact Sydney Rowe at 620-9995 or email srowe@pmowyo.org.

Farmer’s Market and Third Thursday Street Fest @ Grinnell Street Plaza

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Farmers Market will be moved farther up Grinnell Street this Thursday, in front of The Sheridan Press, to celebrate the Third Thursday Street Festival.

From 5-7 p.m. vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted.

Rockin Jake will perform from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. on the Main Stage and Canary Joe will perform at the same time on Loucks and Main Street.

Big Sky Dowser’s Convention @ Moose Lodge

BILLINGS— The Big Sky Dowser will meet at its 37th annual convention from Aug. 23-24 at the Moose Lodge in Billings, Mont.

Dowsing is a type of divination employed in attempts to locate ground water, buried metals or ores, gemstones, oil and many other objects and materials without the use of scientific apparatus.

Come to the convention and learn about dowsing and see it demonstrated and learn the technique. The special presenter will be Big Sky Dowser Charter Member Vern Bandy who will demonstrate dowsing rods he personally designed.

Math boot camp @ Room 203 Whitney Building Sheridan College

This workshop will be in room 203 in the Whitney Building and is free and open to Sheridan College students.

Professional Polo Announcer Gus Whitelaw will be at Brinton Barn @ Brinton Barn

BIG HORN— Professional polo announcer and young horse trainer Gus Whitelaw will be at the Brinton Barn in Big Horn Wednesday.

At 10 a.m. Whitelaw will give a horse demonstration and talk about training a young horse, getting a polo horse used to “traffic,” the polo ball, field work and other horse-related topics.

Every Wednesday throughout the summer from 12:10-12:50 p.m. a free fitness class will be offered at one of the local parks.

Big Horn Market @ BIg Horn Mercantile

BIG HORN— The first annual Big Horn Market will be Saturday, Aug. 30th from 9a.m.-2 p.m. Collette Eliason has been working with the Smokehouse and the Big Horn Mercantile to participate through great food and music. Although the event is small, there is a nice variety of participants from local artists paintings, pottery, baked goods (gluten free), home goods, locally made bath and body items, face-painting, wagon rides, locally grown vegetables and kids’ activities. Replace your summer plants at Landon’s Greenhouse @ Landon's Greenhouse

SHERIDAN— Landon’s Greenhouse invites the public to attend an informative workshop on fall planters Saturday, Aug. 30.

At 10 a.m. Jessica Bohnsack will guide participants through switching out their old summer pots, and replanting them with fall plants.

Attendees are asked to bring in their summer planters, dispose of them in Landon’s green waste container, and then have the opportunity to purchase new soil and fall plants.

There will be a fee for soil and plants used.

SHERIDAN—Sheridan Fulmer Library will host the Celtic/Folk/World music duo Four Shillings Short on Thursday in the Inner Circle from 7-8 p.m. The concert, “Around the World in 30 Instruments” features traditional and original music from the Celtic lands, medieval and renaissance Europe, India and the Americas on a fantastic array of instruments including hammered and mountain dulcimer, mandolin, mandola, bouzouki, tinwhistles, recorders, medieval and renaissance woodwinds, north Indian sitar, Andean charango, medieval psaltery, banjo, bodhran, guitar, percussion and even a Krumhorn. Sludge Trudge @ Sheridan County Fairgrounds

SHERIDAN— The Sheridan County Fairgrounds will be the host for “Sludge Trudge”, a 5k muddy obstacle run on Saturday. Competitive waves start at 9 a.m. with non-competitive waves from 10a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The kids race is at 1:30 p.m. with a harvest festival dinner at 7 p.m. If you plan to stay all day, bring lawn chairs, clean clothes, shoes and a towel. ‘Suds N’ Spurs’ Brewfest @ Whitney Plaza

SHERIDAN— The third annual “Suds n’ Spurs” Brewfest will be Saturday, Sept. 6 from 3-8 p.m. at the Whitney Plaza.

Advanced tickets are now on sale for $30 until the evening of Sept. 5. Tickets will be $35 on the day of the event. You event ticket gets you a wristband, an event cup, and unlimited beer sampling.

If you are under 21 years old or will not be drinking, you do not need to buy an event ticket.

There will be live music from The Dirty Shame, and food vendors. Tickets can be found at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, Blacktooth Brewing, or by calling 672-2485.

SHERIDAN—Dr. Susan Bigelow will present four workshops for grant writers across northern Wyoming throughout September. Dr. Bigelow, Vice President of External Relations and Economic Development for the Northern Wyoming Community College District, will present Thursday at Sheridan College, from 1-5 p.m. inside the Whitney Building, room 168. The cost is $20 per session. The presentations are presented by the Big Horn Mountain Coalition and Sheridan College.
