ParkFit – disc golf @ Sheltered Acres Park

The weekly afternoon outdoor fitness sessions, Sheridan ParkFit, will continue Wednesday with disk golf at Sheltered Acres Park.

Each Wednesday through Aug. 26 free community workouts will be offered at a variety of parks. All members of the community are invited to attend.

This year, points will be given for each activity you attend and you can play as an individual or team. Awards for the most points will be given out at the last session on Aug. 26, at which time the winning team will determine the final activity.

Field Sketching for Children @ The Brinton Museum

The Brinton Museum, Sagebrush Community Art Center and Science Kids will present “Field Sketching for Children” on Thursday.

Local artist Joel Ostlind will host a field sketching workshop for children 8 to 12 years old on The Brinton Museum grounds.

Participants will meet at the Sagebrush Art Gallery located in the Historic Train Depot at 201 E. 5th Street at 8:30 a.m. and ride the Science Kids bus to The Brinton Museum.  The bus will return the participants to the Sagebrush Art Gallery at 1:30 p.m.

Art supplies will be provided; participants need to bring their own water, lunch and snack.

Cost is $35 per child.

7th annual Story Home Sampler @ various homes throughout Story

On Saturday, the Story Woman’s Club will host the 7th annual Story Home Sampler. A self-guided tour of five Story-area homes from quaint log cabins to modern mansions will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased now from Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery, the Buffalo Gardens in Buffalo, the Story Store in Story or day of at the Story Woman’s Club clubhouse located at 28 N. Piney Road. Maps of the homes can be picked up from the clubhouse the day of the event. Raffle items will also be available to win. The event is a fundraiser for the Story Woman’s Club Building Maintenance Fund. Beginning at 11 a.m. and lasting until the food is gone, a lunch will also be served at the clubhouse. For $10 a plate, lunch will include your choice of chicken caesar salad or chicken poppy seed salad with a dessert and a drink. For more information, call Patty Hoover at 683-2452.
