Eagles to host candidate meet and greet @ Eagles Lodge 186

Learn about forest service policies at ‘Wyoming Wednesday’ @ Wyoming Welcome Center

SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Office of Tourism will host the next event in a series of events called “Wyoming Wednesdays.” Informative and interpretive programs about Sheridan are being offered at 10 a.m. most Wednesdays throughout July at the Wyoming Welcome Center. At this week’s event, Cheri Jones of the United States Forest Service will talk about forest service policies and will focus on the Big Horn National Forest. The events are free and open to everyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic lunches and stay and enjoy the visitor’s center before or after each program. The center is located off of Interstate 90 on the Fifth Street exit. Penrose Place grand opening @ Penrose Place

Wacky Science @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN — Join Sarah Mentock of Science kids July 30 for “Wacky Science.” Children ages 10-16 are invited to learn cool scientific principles using everyday materials. Following the science activities, participants will have a pizza party. Both events are free. The event will begin at 11 a.m. in the Inner Circle at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library.

Women’s Retreat @ First Presbyterian Church

SHERIDAN— The First Presbyterian Church will host a women’s retreat from August 8 through August 10. Open to all women in the community, the retreat will be held at Camp Story. Dr. Anita Schamber, Christian life coach, is the guest speaker for the retreat. Those who would like to attend should pick u pa registration form at the church and return it before August 1. 3-D Archery Shoot

SHERIDAN— The Sheridan County Sportsmans Association will hold a 3-D archery shoot Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m.  The family friendly event will be at Bear Lodge and costs $10 per shooter. If you want to shoot for competition, the cost is $20. There will be food and drinks available. The lodge is located at 5600 U.S. 14 in Dayton. Never Flinch Summer Slam @ Sheridan YMCA

SHERIDAN— The Never Flinch annual Summer Slam will be on Saturday, August 2 at 8 a.m. at the Sheridan YMCA. The annual Summer Slam is a 3-on-3, co-ed grass volleyball tournament that will help raise funds for the Weston Johnson Memorial Scholarship. Grizzly bear ecology tour

SHERIDAN — For the next event in a series of outings celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act of 1984, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will host a Grizzly Bear ecology tour in the Shoshone National Forest. On Saturday, Chuck Neal, a retired U.S. Department of the Interior ecologist, will lead the group into grizzly bear country and teach the ecology and biology of the bears. Bring a picnic lunch and spend time discussing the anniversary of wilderness areas. The walk will be approximately 5 miles roundtrip, and is a steep uphill climb. Harold Johnson Cancer Benefit @ Elks Lodge

SHERIDAN— The Elks Lodge will hold a fundraiser for Harold Johnson to help raise money for his cancer challenge. From 4-6p.m. on Saturday there will be a dinner, live music, and an auction. Tidbit Tuesdays @ Sheridan County Museum

SHERIDAN — The next offering of the “Tidbit Tuesday” educational program at the Sheridan County Museum will be held next week. The program gives children and their families an opportunity to explore history together from 10 a.m. to noon every other Tuesday throughout the summer. The events are free and open to all, but space is limited to 24 children so pre-registration is requested. Subsequent activities will be on Aug. 19. For more information or to register call 675-1150. Jentel Presents @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN— Jentel Artist Residency Program is pleased to present this month’s residents. “Jentel Presents” will take place Tuesday, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center. This month’s presenters include an encaustic artist, a performance artist, a narrative fiction writer, a painter, a photographer and a fiction writer. The art center is located on the corner of Fifth and Broadway, and this event is free and open to the public.
