Fundraiser for Keystone Awards @ The Cozy Corner

SHERIDAN — The Cozy Corner will host a fundraising party for the Senior Center’s Keystone Awards on March 27 from 3-7 p.m.

The event will include music, drinks and a chance to give back.

Admission is free, but tickets for the raffle packages to be awarded at the April 23 Keystone Awards will be available for sale.

SHERIDAN — The Josties will perform March 27 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Bethesda Worship Center.

The Christian concert by Dale and Lisa Jost and their family will include toe-tapping music with a message.

The concert is appropriate for all ages and is free and open to the public.

Donations will be accepted to help cover the family’s expenses.

SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Women’s Business Networking group will host an expo March 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall.

The event will feature exhibitors, nonprofits and presentations throughout the day alongside various booths featuring food and goods.

Presentations will include information on local nonprofits, essential oils, Zumba, reflecting your youth, touching lives in a way that can be counted and information on the upcoming FAB (For. About. By.) Women’s Conference set for April 17.

The event will benefit the Advocacy and Resource Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the local suicide prevention coalition.

Jazz Ambassadors concert @ The WYO Theater

SHERIDAN — The Jazz Ambassadors — the official touring band of the U.S. Army — will perform at the WYO Theater at 7:30 p.m. March 31.

The free concert will feature the 19-member ensemble formed in 1969.

Concerts by the Jazz Ambassadors are designed to entertain all types of audiences. Custom compositions and arrangements will highlight the group’s talent and soloists.

The band’s repertoire includes big band swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, standards, popular tunes, Dixieland, vocals and patriotic selections.

Juried photography show entries due @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN — The Sagebrush Community Art Center will host a juried photography show May 4-28 and is currently seeking submissions for the show.

The cost to submit photographs is $30 for up to three entries that are due by April 1.

The Best of Show photographer will be awarded $500, while first- and second-place photographers will be given $200 apiece. Third place and People’s Choice winners will receive $100 each.

Sheridan High School Symphony and Baroque orchestras concert @ Sheridan High School Sue Henry Auditorium

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School Symphony and Baroque orchestras will perform April 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s Sue Henry Auditorium.

The Baroque Orchestra will perform pieces by Mozart and Brahms and the Symphony Orchestra will perform pieces by Weber, Elgar and Lalo. Jacob Jahiel will be featured as a soloist.

In addition, Pippin Robison will perform Stamitz’s violin concerto in G and Mariah Grant will perform a violin concerto in G by Haydn.

Final day for Harry Jackson exhibit at Ucross @ Ucross Foundation Art Gallery

UCROSS — The Ucross Foundation will close its exhibit featuring the abstract art of Harry Jackson today.

The show is the first of its kind since 1953.

Harry Jackson was born in Chicago in 1924 and first spent time in Wyoming in 1938, when he worked as a cowboy on the Pitchfork Ranch near Meeteetse. He enlisted in the Marines at age 18 and was wounded in combat in the Central Pacific battles of Tarawa in 1943 and Saipan in 1944.

At 20, he became an official Marine Corps Combat Artist, the youngest ever, while stationed in Los Angeles. Jackson also spent much time in Europe where he studied the Old Masters and had a studio in Italy.

“Well-Aimed Lightning: The Abstract Art of Harry Jackson,” which will also include a video about Jackson’s life, is on view through April 10.

Submission deadline for mini works of art @ Davis Gallery

SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Wilderness Association is soliciting donations from artists for its ninth annual Miniature Art and Music Auction: Celebrating our Wild Earth, to be exhibited and juried April 13-24 at Davis Gallery.

The WWA is asking local and regional artists and musicians to contribute miniature works of art (no larger than 6-by-8 inches) and “mini-concerts” (up to 90 minutes) in support of protecting some of the most special places in Wyoming.

Artists are asked to deliver finished and framed miniature art pieces to the Davis Gallery on or before April 10.

Prizes from local businesses will be awarded for work in the following categories: best earth landscape, best use of natural materials, best use of recycled materials and best of show.

All musicians will be recognized as well.

A free Grand Finale Gala at Davis Gallery will be held from 5-7 p.m. April 24. The public is welcome to submit final bids and enjoy free music, food and beverages.

Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the WAA.
