SHERIDAN— The First Presbyterian Church will host a women’s retreat from August 8 through August 10. Open to all women in the community, the retreat will be held at Camp Story. Dr. Anita Schamber, Christian life coach, is the guest speaker for the retreat. Those who would like to attend should pick u pa registration form at the church and return it before August 1. SHERIDAN— Jentel Artist Residency Program is pleased to present this month’s residents. “Jentel Presents” will take place Tuesday, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center. This month’s presenters include an encaustic artist, a performance artist, a narrative fiction writer, a painter, a photographer and a fiction writer. The art center is located on the corner of Fifth and Broadway, and this event is free and open to the public.
SHERIDAN— The next Sheridan Farmers Market will be held Thursday on Grinnell Plaza. From 5-7 p.m. vendors will sell produce, arts and crafts and more as live music, children’s activities, demonstrations and nonprofit booths are hosted. This week’s activities include a watermelon eating contest, homemade pie contest, rooster crowing contest, a market basket raffle and a beer and wine garden. Attendance is free for customers and vendor booths are available to rent. SHERIDAN — In celebration of their fourth anniversary, the Kula Space will host “Flavor of the Week,” a weekly free class on Thursdays this summer at 5:30 p.m. Some of the free classes will request optional donations to support a local cause and suggestions of local causes to support are welcome. This week’s class will be Barre Body with Michele. Sign-up is required and it is limited to 12. Donations will benefit The Food Group. SHERIDAN— The NSI Academy presents their fall fest Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9. On Friday there will be a Pig Spit BBQ and live music by The Craft Brothers starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday at 9 a.m., there will be a 5k Color Run that you can register online for. There will also be a lunch and a duck race. Both days will feature musical performances by the student body and inflatables for the whole family. This event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome to establish a performing arts program at NSI Academy. The NSI Academy is located at 5 Lane Ln. For more information call 674-6878.
