SHERIDAN — Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue has joined a fundraising campaign for organizations focused on reducing shelter euthanasia, “Saving Pets Challenge.”

The nonprofit is competing for more than $150,000 in grants for innovative programs that expand lifesaving capacity in communities.

The Saving Pets Challenge launched on July 5 and runs through Aug. 4 at 2 p.m.

The team that raises the most during the challenge wins a $50,000 donation; second place gets $30,000; third gets $20,000; fourth gets $10,000; and fifth gets $5,000. Weekly Bonus Challenges enable charities to win up to another $35,000.

Jentel artists to present to public Tuesday @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN — The Jentel Artist Residency program will feature August residents in an event open to the public on Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center.

   Presenters will include mixed media/letterpress artist Alexander Lee Landerman of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; printmaker Morgan Price of Bloomington, Illinois; novelist Susan Norman of Dallas, Texas; fiction writer Katherine Min of Asheville, North Carolina; and sculptor Jayne Struble of Columbus, Ohio.

The Sagebrush Community Art Center is located at 201 E. Fifth St.

Dayton candidate meet and greet planned for Aug. 2 @ Tongue River Valley Community Center

SHERIDAN — A meet and greet for the Dayton Town Council and Sheridan County Commission candidates will take place at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton on Aug. 2 from 7-9:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to stop in and get to know the candidates, ask questions and be informed.
