The People Assistance Food Bank of Sheridan will host their annual food drive and fundraiser today and Saturday,

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, representatives will be at Walmart collecting donations.

Food, donations and volunteers are all needed.

Swing for Smiles @ Powder Horn Golf Club

The 2nd annual “Swing for Smiles” golf tournament, to benefit the Give Kids The World Village, an annual project of the Perkins Family Restaurant chain, will be held at the Powder Horn Golf Club on Saturday. Dinner and a calcutta will be hosted Friday night preceding the tournament. On Saturday, shotgun start is at 10 a.m. with rounds going for approximately 4.5 hours. The derby will begin at 3 p.m. and awards will follow at 6 p.m. The tournament is a two person best ball. The cost to participate is $125 for club members and $200 for non-members. “It’s Not Paint, It’s Fabric: Landscapes & Abstracts” opening reception @ The Martinsen Gallery at Sheridan College

The Martinsen Gallery at Sheridan College will presents “It’s Not Paint, It’s Fabric: Landscapes & Abstracts” a collection by Heidi Heuerman with an opening reception on Tuesday.

The show will run Tuesday through Oct. 8 and the reception will be held from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday.

The event is free and open to the public. Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Heuerman started sewing when she was eight years old. While earning her degree in human resource sciences at Colorado State University, she took a painting class and loved it. Years later, while trying to find a way to combine her love of painted landscapes and sewing, she started creating fiber paintings.

Heuerman’s works have been   displayed in several galleries and collections across the United States. She took top honors at state and national awards for her fiber and quilted arts.

“Jentel Presents” @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

The Jentel Artist Residency Program will host the next “Jentel Presents” Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m. at Sagebrush Community Art Center.

The program is free and open to all members of the community. Light refreshments will be available.

This month’s presenters include poet Sandra Lim; landscape artists Roxanne Everett, Emilie Lee and Corliss Cavalieri; photographer Lindsay D’Addato and narrative nonfiction writer Mario Kaiser.

“Jentel Presents” is a community outreach program that features visual presentations and readings by the visual artists and writers at the residency.
