Fitness highlight of Parkfit @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN — EMIT Technologies, the Recreation District and the Wellness Council have partnered to present ParkFit 2014. Every Wednesday throughout the summer from 12:10-12:50 p.m. a free fitness class will be offered at one of the local parks. The next session will be fitness by the YMCA at Kendrick Park. A full schedule of ParkFit events can be seen at www.wellnesscouncilsc.org. All members of the community are invited to these free events.

Flavor of the week will feature yoga @ Kula Space

SHERIDAN — In celebration of their fourth anniversary, the Kula Space will host “Flavor of the Week,” a weekly free class on Thursdays this summer at 5:30 p.m. Some of the free classes will request optional donations to support a local cause and suggestions of local causes to support are welcome. Never Flinch Summer Slam @ Sheridan YMCA

SHERIDAN— The Never Flinch annual Summer Slam will be on Saturday, August 2 at 8 a.m. at the Sheridan YMCA. The annual Summer Slam is a 3-on-3, co-ed grass volleyball tournament that will help raise funds for the Weston Johnson Memorial Scholarship. The entry fee is $100 per team, and you can register up until 7:30 a.m. on August 2. For more information, please call Liz Dearcorn at 763-2614.

SHERIDAN — For the next event in a series of outings celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act of 1984, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will host a Grizzly Bear ecology tour in the Shoshone National Forest. On Saturday, Chuck Neal, a retired U.S. Department of the Interior ecologist, will lead the group into grizzly bear country and teach the ecology and biology of the bears. Bring a picnic lunch and spend time discussing the anniversary of wilderness areas. The walk will be approximately 5 miles roundtrip, and is a steep uphill climb.
