The People Assistance Food Bank of Sheridan will host their annual food drive and fundraiser today and Saturday,

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, representatives will be at Walmart collecting donations.

Food, donations and volunteers are all needed.

Shopping for a Cause @ Twin M Designs and Kraft’s Fine Jewelry

Twin M Designs and Kraft’s Fine Jewelry will host “Shopping for a Cause” on Friday.

Shop at either of these location throughout the day and 25 percent of all sales will benefit the Sheridan Public Arts Committee.

Shopping for a Cause is offered the fourth Friday of every month, benefitting a local nonprofit organization.

Car wash @ Walgreens

Clients of the Easter Seals will host three fundraising car washes in Sheridan next week. On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. all members of the community are invited to get a wash in the Walgreen’s parking lot. All funds raised will support the clients participating in activities throughout the community. For more information, contact the Easter Seals at 672-2816. Walgreens is located at 1766 Coffeen Ave.

Air Show, Open House and Fly-In @ Sheridan County Airport

The Sheridan County Airport will host an “Air Show, Open House and Fly-In” on Aug. 29. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., all members of the community are invited to attend the event brought to you by the Sheridan Pilots’ Association. The fly-in will attract pilots and aircraft from throughout the region. The open house is a hosting of a wide variety of aircraft, many of which will be accessible to the public. Modern, classic, antique, working and amateur-built aircraft will be on display. An interactive area with flight simulation games and other activities will also be offered. The air show will be held from 12:30-2 p.m. with four professional aerobatic acts expected to perform. The event will also demonstrate how much of an impact aviation and the airport has on our day-to-day lives. Food concessions will be available. Admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for children, with free rides offered for children between the ages of 7 and 17. Complimentary Sheridan Trolley shuttle service will be available between the airport, downtown area and several hotels. For more information, contact Fred Barton at 575-0975. OW Ranch tour

The Sheridan Community Land Trust will host a tour of the historic OW Ranch in Southern Montana on Saturday. The OW Ranch is owned by music industry legend Jim Guercio, best known for founding the Caribou Ranch — a recording studio where bands including Chicago, Elton John, Michael Jackson and many others created albums in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. Guercio has restored the OW to its original state as it was when owned by Joh Kendrick, Wyoming’s ninth governor. The tour will take attendees through the ranch buildings and give an inside scoop on the history of the ranch as well as the current owner. Though the event is only open to SCLT members, all members of the community are encouraged to register to become a member and join the free tour. The tour will commence from a central location in Sheridan at 8:30 a.m. before carpooling to the ranch. Attendees are asked to bring their own lunches, beverages will be provided. diorama unveiling ceremony @ Ranchester Information Center

The town of Ranchester will host an opening day unveiling ceremony for the newest diorama by Tom Warnke on Saturday.

“Where the Women and Children Fought the Soldiers” is a depiction of the Battle of Tongue River, also known as the Connor Battle.

The diorama will be on permanent display in the Ranchester Information Center.

The diorama will be unveiled on Saturday in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Connor Battle.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., all members of the community are invited to visit the center and see the diorama.

The Ranchester Information Center is located just off of Interstate 90 via exit 9 in Ranchester.

Jake’s Youth Day @ Rocky Mountain Discount Sports

The Sheridan Area Gobblers will present “Jake’s Youth Day” Saturday at Rocky Mountain Discount Sports. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., all members of the community are invited to attend this free event. Information will be presented on archery, BB gun and air rifle, Joey’s Fly Fishing, Wyoming Game and Fish Department Furs/Antlers/Tracks program and more. Prizes will be given to children and lunch will be served. The Sheridan Police Department will also be giving away free guns locks. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Swing for Smiles @ Powder Horn Golf Club

The 2nd annual “Swing for Smiles” golf tournament, to benefit the Give Kids The World Village, an annual project of the Perkins Family Restaurant chain, will be held at the Powder Horn Golf Club on Saturday. Dinner and a calcutta will be hosted Friday night preceding the tournament. On Saturday, shotgun start is at 10 a.m. with rounds going for approximately 4.5 hours. The derby will begin at 3 p.m. and awards will follow at 6 p.m. The tournament is a two person best ball. The cost to participate is $125 for club members and $200 for non-members. “Sheridan – A Fine Place to Grow Old” @ Sheridan Senior Center

The next offering of the Sheridan Senior Center’s “When I’m 64 or More” life planning series will be held Tuesday. “Sheridan – A Fine Place to Grow Old” will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Senior Center dining room.

Presented by Carmen Rideout, the presentation is free and open to all members of the community. Refreshments will also be provided.

“Airgroup: A Story About Creating Opportunity” @ Best Western Sheridan Center

Wyoming Technology Business Center’s e2e Wyoming entrepreneurial program will present “Airgroup: A Story About Creating Opportunity,” on Thursday.

Jack Morrison, an entrepreneur who started Airgroup in 1997 with $19,000 of capital provided by his UW college roommate, will share the story of launching and growing a successful airfreight and logistics business. Through a great deal of sales effort and numerous strategic decisions, Morrison has grown this business to over $12 million in annual revenue.

Appetizers and networking will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the program starts at 6 p.m. at the Best Western Sheridan Center, located at 612 N. Main St.

The presentation is free and open to all, but reservations are requested.
