Sheridan County logo design

From staff reports SHERIDAN— Sheridan County is launching a county-wide contest to design a new logo that represents the county in a unique and identifying way. Submissions will be accepted through Thursday, Aug. 7. The County Commission will select up to 10 semi-finalists to be presented to the public for voting. Finalists will each receive $50 in Chamber Bucks, and the contest winner will receive $250 in Chamber Bucks.

Women’s Retreat @ First Presbyterian Church

SHERIDAN— The First Presbyterian Church will host a women’s retreat from August 8 through August 10. Open to all women in the community, the retreat will be held at Camp Story. Dr. Anita Schamber, Christian life coach, is the guest speaker for the retreat. Those who would like to attend should pick u pa registration form at the church and return it before August 1. Grizzly bear ecology tour

SHERIDAN — For the next event in a series of outings celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act of 1964 and the 30th anniversary of the Wyoming Wilderness Act of 1984, the Wyoming Wilderness Association will host a Grizzly Bear ecology tour in the Shoshone National Forest. On Saturday, Chuck Neal, a retired U.S. Department of the Interior ecologist, will lead the group into grizzly bear country and teach the ecology and biology of the bears. Bring a picnic lunch and spend time discussing the anniversary of wilderness areas. The walk will be approximately 5 miles roundtrip, and is a steep uphill climb. Jentel Presents @ Sagebrush Community Art Center

SHERIDAN— Jentel Artist Residency Program is pleased to present this month’s residents. “Jentel Presents” will take place Tuesday, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Sagebrush Community Art Center. This month’s presenters include an encaustic artist, a performance artist, a narrative fiction writer, a painter, a photographer and a fiction writer. The art center is located on the corner of Fifth and Broadway, and this event is free and open to the public.

SHERIDAN— The Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee is hosting a Candidate Forum Tuesday and Wednesday, August 5 and 6. This is a chance for the public to ask all of the candidates, both locally and at a state level, questions. On Tuesday, candidates for U.S. and State positions will be at Sheridan College’s Whitney presentation hall, 3059 Coffeen Ave. On Wednesday, candidates for County, City and Town positions will be there.
