Open house for new Forest Service District Ranger @ Tongue Ranger District office
Apr 2 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

SHERIDAN — Employees at the U.S. Forest Service Tongue Ranger District will host an open house April 2 from 4-6 p.m. to welcome District Ranger Amy Ormseth.

The open house will be held at the Tongue Ranger District office located at 2013 Eastside Second St. in Sheridan.

Ormseth comes to Sheridan most recently as the District Ranger from the Pike and San Isabel National Forests and Cimarron/Comanche National Grasslands in Salida, Colorado. She began her work in Sheridan earlier this year.

The open house affords an opportunity for the public to meet Ormseth and district employees one-on-one and learn what the district has planned for the upcoming summer season.

For more information about this event, call 674-2600.

Creating an Edible Landscape workshop @ Landon's Greenhouse and Nursery
Apr 4 @ 11:00 am

SHERIDAN — Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery will host two workshops focused on creating a beautiful — and edible — landscape and the basics of vegetable gardening on April 1.

“Creating the Edible Landscape” will be held at 11 a.m. In this workshop, participants will learn how to combine landscape principles with edible plants to create an outdoor landscape that is stunning and nourishing.

“Veggies 101” will be held at 1 p.m. This workshop will help those who are new to veggie gardening begin their adventure. The course will also be a good refresher for anyone wanting to review the basics in order to prepare for this year’s garden.

Participants will learn gardening basics, from soil to sun and fertilizer to fruition. They are invited to stick around to watch a few items be planted in Landon’s “Demo Garden” after the workshop.

Landon’s will also host its weekly farmers market from 9-11 a.m. Saturday.

A prize drawing will be held directly after the workshops for those who called and preregistered. For more information or to register, call 672-8340 or stop by the greenhouse.

Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery is located at 505 College Meadows Drive.

Easter Egg Huntin’ with the Pooch @ Dan Madia Field at Thorne-Rider Park (enter on 11th Street)
Apr 4 @ 11:00 am – 11:30 am

Easter Egg Huntin’ with the Pooch

Saturday, April 4, 2015
11:00 SHARP – 11:30 am
Dan Madia Field west of Thorne-Rider Park (enter on 11th St.)

This is one hunt that has definitely gone to the dogs! And another one that will go very fast. After the Sheridan Rec District Easter Egg Hunt at 10 am, plan on bringing your pooch to Madia Field (located just west of Thorne-Rider Park) for the 3rd Annual Easter Egg Huntin’ with the Pooch event. Dog and owner will explore and locate eggs filled with dog treats, or discover tennis balls just the right size for fetching! Dogs will need to stay on a leash and, if the pooch has an accident, clean-up is your responsibility (doggie poop bags will be available). The Easter Egg Bunny will probably not show up, because bunnies generally get a little nervous around dogs. Co-sponsor is Sheridan Media. For more information, call the Sheridan Recreation District, (307) 674-6421.
