SHERIDAN — The fifth annual Sheridan Local Foods Expo will take place Oct. 5-9.

The Expo supports and demonstrates the health and economic benefits of local foods by including educational sessions, workshops and networking for large and small scale producers, backyard gardeners and local food enthusiasts.

“Our goal is to partner with individuals, businesses and organizations to help put together a festive, educational event that is an incubator of ideas and a place for networking, partnership and future action around a statewide sustainable food economy in Wyoming,” Bonnie Gregory, committee organizer said.

“This is a growing and fundraising year for us and monies raised will go toward expenses, future expo events, workshops and youth outreach. We are excited to help support some of the youth organizations within our community that reinforce our vision, like 4-H, FFA and school garden initiatives. To have a successful producer culture in our state, we must first work on educating and supporting our children,” Gregory added.

To kick off the Expo, there will be a premier screening of the PBS Farm to Fork episode “Compost.”

The event will begin at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library at 5:30 p.m. with a reception. The film will begin at 6:30 p.m. and a question and answer session will immediately follow the film.
