A Wild and Wonderful Women’s Writing Retreat @ Box Cross Ranch

SHERIDAN — Local therapist and writing coach Loran Hills will hold “A Wild and Wonderful Women’s Writing Retreat” on May 22-23 at Box Cross Ranch in Sheridan.

The event will offer a safe place to write, to explore and to share the stories of their lives in order to refresh, reconnect and revive or begin a writing practice.

The cost for the retreat is $175, which includes room, board and a spa vegetarian menu.

UNPLUG: Grand finale camping trip @ Kendrick Park

SHERIDAN — The Unplug Finale event will offer an introduction to camping in a fun and safe environment by allowing families to camp for the night in Kendrick Park. A bluegrass jam session with local musicians as well as bonfires and s’mores will highlight the evening and free breakfast for campers will be offered the next morning.

DAYTON — Enjoy watching and photographing hang gliders soar above the valley from the Bighorn Mountains May 23-24. The gliders take off at the Sand Turn turnout off of U.S. Highway 14 just outside of Dayton. Gliders will be out all day if weather allows. Eatons’ horse drive @ West Fifth Street in Sheridan

SHERIDAN — The annual horse drive through Sheridan features horses from the Eatons’ ranch being driven from winter pastures to their summer home at the ranch. The horses leave the Wyarno area at about 7 a.m. May 24 and make their way west on Fifth Street between 9-9:30 a.m. Pick your best viewing place and be ready by 9 a.m. For additional information, contact Eatons’ Ranch at 655-9285.

SHERIDAN — Sheridan’s Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. May 25. The parade starts at Main and Dow streets and heads south to the Sheridan County Courthouse, where a brief ceremony will be held.

Tween Challenge Takeover — K’nex @ Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library will continue to offer programming for “tweens” through May.

Next week’s “Tween Challenge Takeover” programs will focus on fiber art.

“Tween Challenge Takeover” is geared toward kids in fifth through seventh grades.

The program includes activities and experiments that draw from the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics and the “maker-space” movement.

The programs are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Children’s Theater at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library.

The following is the schedule of activities planned through May:

‘The Mask You Live In’ movie showing @ Centennial Theatre

The film follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while being pressured by media, their peer groups and adults in their lives to disconnect from their emotions, devalue authentic friend- ships and resolve conflicts through violence.
