SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Troopers rolled through their first game at the Wyoming American Legion ‘AA’ State Tournament Wednesday afternoon in Cheyenne with a 17-2 win over the Jackson Giants.
Sheridan got five innings from Skyler Holwell in the 10-run ruled game that featured two Troopers, Connor McCafferty and Tony Mort, recording four hits. McCafferty had four RBIs and Drew Adriaens had five.
The Troopers were 16 for 32 at the dish, while Holwell gave up just six Jackson hits on the day.
Sheridan advances to meet the winner of a game between North No. 1 seed Cheyenne Post 6 and South No. 4 seed Rock Springs at 7 p.m. Thursday. Sheridan split its two games with Post 6 this year and has not played Rock Springs in 2013.
In the only other game completed so far, the North No. 2 seed Casper defeated the South No. 3 seed Cheyenne Hawks 22-4.
