Story to host meeting on riparian setbacks

STORY — The community of Story will hold a public meeting to discuss Sheridan County’s proposed amendments to zoning regulations regarding management of riparian areas prior to official public hearings to be held in August.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Story Woman’s Club.

County Public Works Director Rod Liesinger will present the proposed amendments — which would establish a minimum riparian buffer zone of 50 feet from the ordinary high water mark and could be enlarged to account for steep slopes and additional riparian vegetation — at the meeting. Liesinger will be available to answer questions, and the county commissioners have also been invited to participate.

The meeting will offer participants a chance to learn more about the riparian regulations and share opinions and input with county employees and officials.
