SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College Board of Trustees was informed last night at their regular business meeting that former Wyoming Gov. Jim Geringer has been scheduled as the 2013 graduation speaker at the college’s May 11 commencement exercise.
Geringer served as the 30th Wyoming governor from 1995-2003, following 12 years in the state Legislature. According to the National Governor’s Association website, during his term, “He pushed for higher standards, proper assessment of achievement and effective use of technology for basic and distance learning.”
“We look forward to hosting Gov. Geringer on our campus,” Sheridan College President Paul Young said. “He is an advocate for education, and is very involved in supporting the Complete College America agenda. I am sure our graduates and audience will enjoy hearing his words of wisdom during our commencement ceremony.”
Geringer will also speak at the Gillette College commencement ceremony on May 10.
