SHERIDAN — Science Kids is offering a “Black Diamonds of Sheridan” class Aug. 5-6 for children ages 9-11.
Join Science Kids, Sheridan County Museum and Sheridan County Land Trust to follow the Black Diamond Historic Mine Trail and learn about Sheridan County’s early settlements.
Instructor Colin Betzler will lead the study of coal and archeology as well as a field trip to one of the former coal mine townsites that is still rich with artifacts.
Be prepared to discover some cool history — and maybe get a little dirty in the process.
The class will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day.
Dress appropriately for outdoor activities and bring a snack, lunch, water bottle, hat and sunscreen.
The cost is $65 and all materials will be provided.
See www.science-kids.org for more information or to register.
