SHERIDAN — Gary Small and the Coyote’ Bros won the Wyoming Blues and Jazz Society’s Third Annual Blues Challenge competition held July 14 in Casper. Bands from across the state competed to be Wyoming’s representative at the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge, to be held in Memphis, Tenn., in January.
The foursome — consisting of Gary Small, Jim Willey and Jobe Jennings, all of Sheridan, and Jimmy Lange of West Cliff, Colo., — performed original blues songs to a packed house and three experienced judges from Wyoming and Colorado.
“We’ve put in hours and hours of rehearsals and thousands of miles on the road this summer already,” Small said. “I think we are in great musical shape right now and I think the judges recognized it.”
