WEATHER FROM OUR SPONSORS
SHERIDAN — The first Sheridan County Field of Honor flag display will be on the front lawn of Sheridan College from Aug. 9-11.
The Healing Field and Field of Honor flag display programs began on the first anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks as a way to depict the loss the nation suffered. Three thousand flags were posted — one for each victim who died.
The Field of Honor at SC will be a display of 1,000 American flags in honor of those who have served in the armed forces, law enforcement, firefighting or as other first responders.
To honor someone, get a flag order form at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce office, Bighorn Design, Country Bounty, Photo Imaging Center, Prime Rate Motors, Story Store and Sheridan Stationery, Books and Gallery. Order forms are also available at www.healingfield.org/sheridan13/.
You can purchase a 3-by-5-foot flag and 8-foot pole for a cost of $35. An honoree tag will be included for you to complete. The flag is yours to keep after the event.
Proceeds from flag sponsorships will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Volunteers are needed to help with the event.
