ASAP planning session Monday
Date posted: March 20, 2013
SHERIDAN — The Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention will host a strategic planning session to come up with viable programs and actions to combat issues of tobacco and other drugs in Sheridan County.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting at noon Monday at the Holiday Inn’s Sugarland Mining Company restaurant.
Attendees will use information from the comprehensive Sheridan County Community Needs Assessment, as well as a completed community survey, to track best practices in the areas of tobacco and other drugs.
Activities and prevention action steps for 2013-2014 will be planned.
“We really have some good feedback, and we have an outline on what best practices will succeed in Sheridan, when it comes to issues of tobacco and other drugs in our community,” said Thom Gabrukiewicz, community prevention specialist with the Wyoming Prevention Management Organization, in a press release. “I would encourage anyone who wants to see a healthier Sheridan be part of this process. These are ideas that have been proven to work nationally — and will be customized to reach folks in Sheridan.”
Those attending will also get information on what programs and action steps are planned in the areas of alcohol and suicide prevention. Those steps were discussed in January and have been accepted by the state Department of Health and the state’s prevention leadership team.
