Landon’s holding free workshops Sat. and March 26

SHERIDAN — Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery invites the public to free workshops Saturday and March 26 at Landon’s, 505 College Meadow Drive.
At 10 a.m. Landon’s will present “Orchids — the Ultimate Houseplant.” Stan Gordon of Fantasy Orchids will offer advice on how to bring a taste of the tropics into your home. He will cover lighting, watering, fertilizing, humidity and orchid health issues. Landon’s will have orchids for sale and workshop participants will receive a discount on orchid purchases.
At 1 p.m. Keith Kershaw, Landon’s nursery manager, will present “How to Have Healthy Trees and Shrubs.”
Kershaw has successfully completed the International Society of Arboriculture certified arborist exam.
Kershaw and Phil Gilmore, Landon’s landscape and design manager, are two of only seven certified arborists in Sheridan County.
The ISA program is designed to promote the professional development and improve the level of knowledge of those involved in the field of tree care.
Kershaw will offer information on how to be proactive in protecting trees and shrubs from the many hazards of spring.
He will discuss proper watering practices, fertilization and how to identify and combat diseases like leaf spot and fire blight.
On March 26 at 5:30 p.m., Janelle Gray will present “Eat Your (Own) Veggies” with information on the basics of growing your own vegetables.
