UCROSS— A new exhibition of sports paintings, “The Sporting Life,” by John Hull will open at the Ucross Foundation Art Gallery on July 2.
The show will present approximately 25 paintings focused on baseball, rodeo, horse racing and football.
Some of the paintings were inspired by drawings and watercolors Hull worked on at the Johnson County Fair and Rodeo in Buffalo during August 2012 when he was an artist-in-residence at Ucross Foundation. An artist’s reception will be held at the Ucross Gallery from 6–8 p.m. July 2 and will include music by Dave and Tris Munsick. The reception is open to the public at no charge.
Hull is currently a painting and drawing professor at the College of Charleston in South Carolina.
The exhibition will be on display through Sept. 14.
Ucross Foundation Art Gallery is located at 30 Big Red Lane in Ucross, one-half mile east of the intersection of Highways 14 and 16.
Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
