SHERIDAN — Sheridan County Public Health and the Sheridan Health Center will be hosting a combined open house Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. to recognize the relocation of the health center to the same building as Public Health.|
The ribbon cutting ceremony that begins the event will be led by the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce.
The open house gives the Sheridan Health Center an opportunity to showcase its new location and for Public Health to present its facilities to the public.
“Our services complement each other and we want people to be aware of that,” said Cathi Kindt, executive director of the center.
“The Sheridan Health Center provides medical care to uninsured and economically disadvantaged Sheridan County adults from the ages of 19 to 64,” Kindt said, adding that they assist the community by providing diagnosis, medical treatment and by working on prevention and long-term health improvement.
Public Health offers medical services to every person in the county regardless of age, through maternity, emergency, communicable disease, STD testing and counciling, elder adult care, home health care and wellness programs.
Toby Granger of Sheridan County Public Health said that the organization has a wide range of programs to support the community with the multiple possible types of medical aid needed.
He also added that the relocation of the Health Center to include both teams under one roof will have yet unforseen benefits for both the organizations and the public.
“Geographical proximity will overcome a hurdle of accessiblity,” Granger said.
“We are trying to reach a more wholelistic approch to health care,” Kindt said.
