WBC seeking comment on rules changes for grant, loan program
Date posted: June 18, 2013
SHERIDAN — The Wyoming Business Council announced last week it is seeking public comment on proposed changes to the rules for its Business Ready Community Grant and Loan program.
The amendments include changes to award and match amounts, added application evaluation criteria, addressing of incomplete applications, third party studies, cost estimates and updated loan application requirements.
In recent years, Sheridan has been the recipient of several WBC grants aimed at further developing local infrastructure in order to make the city a more attractive location for existing and potential businesses.
Most recently, the WBC tentatively approved a $1 million request to expand Yellowtail Drive at the northwest end of the city and install about 2,000 feet of sewer pipe.
In pushing for the project, city officials said expanded infrastructure would allow for maximum future economic development.
If ultimately approved, the city would be expected to provide about $500,000 in matching funds to complete the project.
People interested in commenting on the proposed changes may request a statement of the agency’s position regarding each comment and the action taken as a result of the comments prior to or within 30 days after adoption of the rule.
Residents may also request the agency not adopt the rules.
If requested, the WBC will provide a written response to state the reasons for overruling the consideration against adoption.
The Wyoming Business Council works to facilitate the economic growth of Wyoming via several avenues including grants and tailored programs aimed at supporting private development.
As a state government agency, the organization concentrates its efforts on providing assistance to existing Wyoming companies and start-ups while aiding communities with development and economic diversification needs.
Written comments and suggestions must be submitted to the WBC by 5 p.m. July 5.
To obtain a copy of the proposed rules, contact Dave Simonsen at 777-2813, firstname.lastname@example.org or 214 West 15th St., Cheyenne, WY, 82002.
