Samson official named oil, gas supervisor

CHEYENNE (AP) — Wyoming has a new state oil and gas supervisor.
The Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission announced Friday that Grant Black will direct the commission starting May 1.

The commission oversees oil and gas development in Wyoming.

Black has been a regional director of government affairs for Samson Resources since 2004. Previously he supervised the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission for five years.

Black is 58 and has over 30 years of experience as a professional geologist.
He has a bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s in geology from Oklahoma State.

He replaces Tom Doll, who resigned last year following controversial remarks about people in the Pavillion area with contaminated groundwater.

Black was among four finalists interviewed.
