SHERIDAN — Repairs to the railroad crossings at First and Fifth streets will force a day-long closure of each intersection over the next several days.
The First Street crossing will close tomorrow — between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. — so Wyoming Department of Transportation crews can complete a project they began in April.
The First Street intersection will be closed during the same hours Monday.
WYDOT spokeswoman Ronda Holwell said drivers will be directed via signage to the opposite intersection while construction activities are taking place.
Holwell said crews will finish a paving project that should make for a smoother ride over the tracks once completed.
Although work on the project began several months ago, Holwell said workers were forced to wait for warmer weather to finish.
“It should make the ride a lot smoother,” she said. “I know we’ve had some concerns (about that).”
Holwell added that no other construction projects are planned for the railroad crossings the rest of this summer.
