SHERIDAN — A Toyota Sequoia crashed into Starbucks at 2208 Coffeen Ave. just after 6 a.m. this morning in an accident that sent the driver to the hospital with head lacerations and possibly other injuries.
Police spokesman Lt. Chris Dahmke said the driver — a 60-year-old man — was headed northbound on Coffeen when his vehicle hurdled the curb and struck the southeast corner of the building.
No one else was injured as a result of the crash.
Sgt. Travis Koltiska said the driver had not been wearing a seatbelt.
Koltiska added that a customer had been seated inside the Starbucks near where the truck struck the building but had gotten up to pick up a drink just moments before the accident.
Damage to both the structure and the vehicle was significant, Dahmke said.
The Sheridan Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
As of press time, it was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
