No word on Smith’s blood alcohol test

SHERIDAN —Sheridan County Attorney Matt Redle declined to comment this week on the availability of blood alcohol test results for Sheridan City Councilwoman Shelleen Smith.
Smith was arrested late last month by Sheridan police officers for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
In a conversation with The Sheridan Press Monday, Redle cited state rules that prevent attorneys from releasing certain test results in saying he could not offer any information.
The recently elected representative of Sheridan’s Ward 1, Smith was arrested just after midnight on April 26 on Big Horn Avenue near Absaraka Street.
She was released from the Sheridan County Detention Center later that day and went on to issue a written statement regarding the incident.
“This was a severe lapse in judgment on my part and I apologize to the citizens of Sheridan and to my family and friends for this mistake,” Smith wrote.
She later entered a written not guilty plea in Sheridan County Circuit Court.
Smith was elected to represent Ward 1 last November and assumed the post early this year.
Her case is scheduled for a review hearing on May 28 followed by a status conference on June 25 where attorneys will decide how best to advance the case.
