Mirich paces Lady Rams track on second day of regionals
SHERIDAN — Jadyn Mirich won two events, taking home All-Conference track recognition Saturday in Gillette.
Mirich’s hurdles runs combined with a first-place run by the Lady Rams 1×400 meter relay team paced the Big Horn girls to a runner-up finish at the 2A regional meet. Burns was a distant first with 156 points. The Lady Rams had 86.
Mirich and Matthew Wigglesworth won the 100- and 300-meter hurdles girls and boys events. Wigglesworth joined Christian Mayer as Rams taking home All-Conference honors. Mayer won the 100-meter dash, finishing as a narrow second in the 200-meter dash. He ran a 23.52-second sprint, behind the 23.26-second winner.
The Big Horn boys scored 70 points and finished fourth. Lusk won the 2A regional track meet with 139 points.
Five All-Conference for Tongue River track team
SHERIDAN — Five Tongue River track athletes garnered All-Conference honors after their performances at the 1A-2A-4A Regional Track Meet Saturday in Gillette.
Top two placers in each event make All-Conference and the top eight head to state this weekend in Casper.
All-conference athletes were: Amanda Hutchinson, 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs; Sarah Nielsen, shot put and discus; Josiah Huff, 800; Cody Jolovich, 1,600 and 3,200; and Austen Scammon in the 300-meter hurdles.
The Eagles finished fourth in the team scores and the Lady Eagles were fifth.
Arvada-Clearmont: Kretschman all-conference
SHERIDAN — Shayna Kretschman won the 100-meter dash and the girls long jump at the 1A East Regional track meet in Gillette, qualifying her for all-conference honors.
Kretschman ran a 13.44-second time, and she was fourth in the 200-meter dash. She jumped 15 feet, 9.5 inches to win the long jump Bailey Roebling placed fourth in the 400-meter run and was third in the triple jump. For the boys, Dylan Collins placed fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
