TR, Big Horn Academic Challenge teams place well

SHERIDAN — Sheridan County School District 1 high schools made a great showing at the Wyoming Academic Challenge held in February in Torrington.

Eleven high school teams from around the state competed at Eastern Wyoming College Feb. 16.

Teams consisted of three to five members who competed in four rounds of competition that tested team knowledge in several areas including mathematics, current events and literature.

Tongue River High School was awarded second place and Big Horn High School Team No. 2 took third place. Cheyenne East High School Team No. 2 took first place.

Plaques and medals were presented to the winning teams.

Students on the first place team were presented scholarships to attend EWC for the 2013-2014 academic year.
