L&H Industrial claims small business award

SHERIDAN — L&H Industrial Inc. claimed two Small Business Administration National Small Business Awards at a ceremony in Gillette last week.
The Wyoming-based mining equipment manufacturer also has a presence in Sheridan, with a facility that employs about 30 local residents.
Last week, the company won the Wyoming Small Business Exporter of the Year and the SBA Region VIII Small Business Exporter of the Year awards.
Winners are chosen based on a direct increase in sales or employment because of exporting, use of creative overseas marketing efforts and other criteria that encourage small business exporting.
Founded in 1964, L&H designs and manufactures mechanical parts for mining shovels, draglines, drills and other heavy mobile equipment. The company reported that more than half of its 2012 sales were through exports.
L&H began expanding its global presence in 2001 when it purchased a company based in Tucson, Ariz. Since then, the company has continued to grow geographically, opening locations in Mexico, Chile and Australia.
The business also partnered with India-based Vulcan Industrial Engineering in 2009, a move that helped L&H triple its manufacturing capabilities while continuing to expand its global presence.
