SHERIDAN — Friday proved to be a productive afternoon for the Tongue River track team at the Upton Bobcat Invite, as several runners registered impressive performances heading into regionals.
Leading the way for TR was Sarah Nielsen who placed first in shot put with a throw of 26 feet 5 inches and second in discus with a throw of 114-4.
On the boys’ side, Josiah Huff placed first in both the 200 and 400 meters.
Austen Scammon placed second in both the 400 meters and 110 meter hurdles.
Cody Jolovich and Dillon Lyons also contributed strong results, finishing third in the 400 meters and third in long jump respectively.
Jolovich also placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 7 seconds.
For his part, head coach Chuck Walters said he was pleased with his team’s performance.
“It was a nice kind of tune-up for regionals,” he said. “I think a lot of our kids are right where they need to be.”
