Dora Atlanta Schmidt

Dora Atlanta Schmidt, 82, of Sheridan, passed away on April 22, 2013, at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Dora was born on November 27, 1930, to Joel and Edna Mae (Scoggan) Deeble in Lead, SD. She graduated from Lead High School in 1949. She married Chester Schmidt October 9, 1949. They moved from Lead to Duluth, MN in 1972, where she lived until 2008 when she moved to Sheridan to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joyce Schmidt. She was a loving person who devoted her life to her family. In her teenage years, she enjoyed being a majorette for the Lead High School Band. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, working cross word puzzles, reading mystery and science fiction books, and attending concerts at the WYO Theater. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and sister Hilda. She is survived by her children, Richard (Joyce) Schmidt of Sheridan, Deborah Schmidt of Las Cruces, NM, Tracy Schmidt and husband Gene Scott of Roseville, MN, Alan Schmidt and wife Nancy Stirratt of Minneapolis, MN; her sister Mary Percevich of Lead, SD, and brother Joel Deeble of Sheridan, WY; grandchildren Doug (Tammy) Marvin of Crosby, TX, Michael Schmidt of Billings, MT, Devin (Katie) Schmidt of Billings, MT, great grandchildren, Jazlyn and Sean Marvin and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 27, 2013, at the Kane Funeral Home Reception Hall from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Inurnment services will be held June 21, 2013 at the Black Hills National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dog and Cat Shelter 84 E Ridge Road, Sheridan; WYO Theater, 42 N. Main, Sheridan, or the Senior Citizens Center, 211 Smith St., Sheridan. Online condolences may be left at www.kanefuneral.com. Kane Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
