SHERIDAN — The Sheridan boys golf team equalled their best finish of the spring season, taking second at the Powell tournament, while the Sheridan girls took fourth Friday afternoon.
Jack Mavrakis led the way for the Sheridan boys, taking second with a 74. He finished two strokes behind Powell’s Bowe Prestwich.
“I am really suprised, considering the amount of practice time, schools have had with the weather conditions,” said Sheridan coach Larry Martoglio. “For Jack to post a 74, that is a nice outing for him.
Ben Wollenzien shot an 89 at the tournament. Other finishers for the Broncs were — Alex Williams, 90; Bailey Bonnet 92, Kelby Liggett 93; Forrest DeBolt 95, Brock Gransberry 113.
Hilary Lindell also had a solid afternoon, taking fourth with a 94. She was nine strokes behind Gillette’s Hailey Shackleford. The Lady Broncs also had Katie Beardslee finish in the top 10. The freshman, in her second tournament ever shot a 102, good enough for 10th. Maddy Farr rounded out the Sheridan scoring with a 116.
The Broncs and Lady Broncs will be in action today in Buffalo.
