SC adds 2 Wyo. hoops products

Riverton’s Webb joins Generals

SHERIDAN — Riverton High School standout Xavier Webb joins an impressive Sheridan College recruiting class.

Webb (6’0”, 175) signed with the the Generals basketball team after he helped the Wolverines to a 4A runner-up finish at the state tournament in March.

He averaged 16.7 points and 2.2 assists per game, making All-State twice in high school. Webb is a 50 percent shooter from the field and a 39 percent from behind the arc.

Webb plans to study biology and environmental science after posting a 3.9 grade point average at RHS.

“Xavier will be a nice addition to next year’s team, and helps fill the need for quality perimeter shooting, as we look to replace shooters like Victor Bermudez and Ron Mvouika from last year’s squad,” Generals head coach Steve Smiley said. “Xavier has a good feel for the game, and has the physicality to compete at this level.”

Laramie PG signs with SC women

SHERIDAN — The Lady Generals have locked up another Wyoming player on their 2013 recruiting class.

Laramie point guard Katie Kuhn will join Sierra Toms of Gillette this fall on the SC women’s basketball squad.

Kuhn led the Lady Plainsmen in 2012-13, scoring 15 points per game, good enough for second-best among girls players in the state.

Kuhn shoots 35 percent from the 3-point line and 74 percent from the charity stripe, and she was a member of the Lady Plainsmen 2011-12 4A girls state championship team.

“Katie is one of the top players in the state coming out of high school and brings championship level experience with her to the court,” Lady Generals head coach Frank McCarthy said. “I really look forward to watching her grow within our program.”
