SHERIDAN — The Sheridan-Johnson Community Foundation Endowment Fund of the Wyoming Community Foundation recently awarded an $8,000 grant to the Sheridan Artists Guild (SAGE). The money will be used to fund general operation costs for the Sheridan Artists’ Guild and the Sagebrush Art Center located in the Historic Train Depot at 201 E. 5th St.
The Sagebrush Art Center, which is free and open to the public, operates as a community tourist attraction, and hosted more than 4,000 visitors last year from 37 states and five countries last year.
“We are truly pleased with the generous grant from the Sheridan-Johnson Community Foundation Endowment Fund of the Wyoming Community Foundation which will assist us in providing more service to the community through a paid Executive Director,” said SAGE President Edre Maier. “It will also assist in carrying out our mission of developing opportunities, innovation and promotion in the creative economy for our community and beyond.”
SAGE, which was created over 35 years ago, is a nonprofit organization that provides a location for local, regional and national art shows and sales, gallery talks, artist in residency presentations and educational workshops.
