A special man who brought a lot of goodness into the world, Richard P. (Dick) Henderson, 90, passed away surrounded by his family on February 26, 2013. Before retiring to his beloved home in Story Wyoming, he served as a minister in the Congregational UCC. Dick’s churches could be found in New Mexico, Idaho, Washington, Iowa, Wyoming, and Montana. The lives he touched are innumerable.
Dick was proud of the fact that he graduated from the University of California at Berkley and the Pacific School of Religion. He showed his passion for music within the church life and as a part of a Barbershop quartet. Many of his favorite times were accompanied by a chocolate milkshake, or chocolate candy bar.
During World War II, Dick was lieutenant in the Canadian army. After the war he met the love of his life, Beatrice. They were married on May 20, 1949. The two of them made a great team in the churches and everyday life. She preceded him in death after fifty two wonderful years as husband and wife.
Dick is survived by sisters, Anne, Peggy, Kathleen, Debbie, and brothers Lloyd and David. Dick cherished his time with his four children, Rick (Nancy) Henderson, Betty Gardner, Julie (Jay) Caster, and Hal Henderson. The time he spent with his grandchildren, Casey, Victor, Becca, Alicia, Alex, Allison, Austin, and Richard always was treasured. Adding a special spark to his life were his great grandchildren: Simon, Tsunade, Elijah, Scarlett, Andre, Chloe, and Ophelia.
As he wished, Dick has been cremated. A celebration of his life will be held March 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Congregational Church in Worden, MT. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Congregational Church.
