Clark Gladys obitGladys Elizabeth Clark passed away February 22, 2013. Gladys was born March 29, 1920 in Glens Ferry, Idaho to Howard Ekersell and Sarah Gold Ekersell. She graduated from high school in Rexberg, Idaho and attended Henninger Business School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Gladys married Dan E. Clark Jr. in 1947. At that time she was employed with the Bureau of Reclamation in Idaho Falls as secretary to the project engineer of the Palisades Damn, still in its planning stages.

After they were married she and Dan managed the Railroad Ranch in Island Park, Idaho and later the ZX Ranch in Paisley, Oregon. They moved to the Sheridan area in 1967.

Gladys enjoyed volunteering. She delivered Meals on Wheels for several years and spent over 1000 hours working in the gift shop at Sheridan Memorial Hospital. She served on many local boards including Civic Theater Guild, Hospital Auxiliary and the Sheridan Country Club Women’s Golf Association.

A life-long painter she especially enjoyed her art classes at Sheridan College. She loved to golf, bowl, and play cards.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, her son Dan Clark III (Skeeter), brothers, sisters, and grandson Tommy. She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Shirley), Ogden, Utah, step-daughter Peggy Cottom, California, 6 grand-children and 17 great grand-children.

Cremation has taken place and respecting Gladys’ wishes there will be no memorial service.

Gladys’ family thanks Hospice of the Big Horns and the tireless 24 hour care-givers for their kind and gentle service during her last days.

Memorials may benefit the Dog and Cat Shelter, Senior Citizen Center, or Hospice of the Big Horns.
