Steven Donald Roth, 61, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Steve was born on February 10, 1952 to Charles and Betty Jean Roth in Sandusky, Ohio. He was raised in Sandusky. He met his future wife Gerilyn Sekela while attending college at Bowling Green State University and they were married on October 25, 1975 in Youngstown, OH. They had one child, a daughter Lindsay. He attended school at Bowling Green where he received his B.A. in social psychology and in statistics. He also received his masters in psychology there and worked on his PhD. He only had his thesis to complete. The family moved to Sheridan in 1992 where Steve started the SIP program for NWMH. Steve enjoyed gardening, growing violets, fly fishing, photography, was a history buff, loved music, and played several instruments. He loved spending time with his daughter and granddaughters, visiting with friends and visiting with his family in Ohio. He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, the Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge # 8. Steve was instrumental in starting and promoting the Soup Kitchen or as its known today, Lunch Together. He also worked for Jeffrey C. Wardle Academy in Cheyenne, JDC in Casper, CEC in Casper, NSI in Sheridan, Sheridan Manor as Social Services Director, teaching at Sheridan College and having his own private practice. Steve was preceded in death by his father Charles. He is survived by his wife, Geri Roth of Sheridan, his daughter, Lindsay Roth-Carson of Sandusky, OH, his mother, Betty Jean Roth of Sandusky, Oh, and his granddaughters Mercedes Ann Carson and Mandela Twila Carson both of Sandusky, OH. A Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Kane Funeral Home. Services for Steve will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with Father John Inserra Officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Lodge #8 Cemetery with Graveside Rites. A luncheon reception will follow at St. Peter’s parish hall.
