Art student Ivy Harbour has had one of her works named Best of Show in the recent Annual Student Art Exhibition at Sheridan College. The piece, “Unconventional Still Life”, is an oil painting by Harbour.
“My favorite part of making this piece was creating my own interpretation of a familiar image,” said Harbour. “I enjoy drawing or painting people because I get to tell a story about a person using the visual language.”
The art show was judged by local artist Joel Ostlind.
“In a student show this piece exhibits both academic learning and artistic synthesis to a high degree,” said Ostlind. “It is a wonderfully strong student show. It shows a lot of emerging talent.”
The student art show will remain open for public viewing through May 9 at the Martinsen Gallery in the Whitney Building. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
